2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Grayslake Fire | ||||||
4 | Chief Don Mobley on the occasion of his retirement as Fire | ||||||
5 | Chief on December 19, 2008; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Don Mobley began his long and distinguished career | ||||||
7 | with the Grayslake Fire Department as a volunteer in 1979; he | ||||||
8 | rose through the ranks as a volunteer firefighter, eventually | ||||||
9 | becoming the department's first full-time employee, | ||||||
10 | Lieutenant, Director of Fire Prevention, Assistant Chief, and | ||||||
11 | Fire Chief; he has also been a licensed paramedic for 28 years; | ||||||
12 | and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, As Fire Chief, Don Mobley was responsible for | ||||||
14 | insuring fast and effective emergency response to more than | ||||||
15 | 32,000 residents of the Grayslake Fire Protection District; | ||||||
16 | during his tenure, the Fire Department's responses increased | ||||||
17 | from less than 1,500 to more than 3,650, with the department | ||||||
18 | growing from 10 full-time employees to more than 30; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Don Mobley is a member of numerous fire service | ||||||
20 | organizations, having served as President, Vice President, and | ||||||
21 | Treasurer of the Lake County Fire Chiefs Association, the Lake | ||||||
22 | and McHenry Counties Specialized Response Teams, the |

| |||||||
1 | Metropolitan Fire Chiefs Association, and the Northeast Fire | ||||||
2 | Chiefs Association; he has also served on numerous ad-hoc | ||||||
3 | committees to improve the delivery of emergency service | ||||||
4 | throughout Lake County and the State of Illinois, such as the | ||||||
5 | Lake County Emergency Operations Plan committee, and was the | ||||||
6 | co-author of the Region X Mass Casualty Plan; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, An emergency responder at heart, Don Mobley also | ||||||
8 | assisted in the management of some of the largest disaster | ||||||
9 | operations in the country, including operations during | ||||||
10 | Hurricane Katrina, the 2007 California wildfires, and the 2008 | ||||||
11 | Mississippi River flooding; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Don Mobley has accepted a new position as a Fire | ||||||
13 | Program Specialist with the Federal Emergency Management | ||||||
14 | Agency in Chicago, a position that he will undoubtedly perform | ||||||
15 | with the same vigor that he has exhibited as Fire Chief; and | ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Don Mobley's tireless commitment to the citizens | ||||||
17 | of Grayslake will be remembered fondly by the many people he | ||||||
18 | has helped in his 29 years of dedicated service; therefore, be | ||||||
19 | it

20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
21 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
22 | congratulate Don Mobley on the occasion of his retirement as |

2 | happiness with his future career; and be it further

3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
