HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Robert Cook on the occasion of his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Robert Cook was born in 1943; he attended schools in Quincy before attending the University of Illinois and the University of Illinois College of Law, where he was an editor of the law review; and

WHEREAS, After graduating from law school in 1967, Robert Cook joined the United States Marine Corps, where he served as a judge advocate, including a year in Vietnam; and

WHEREAS, Following his service in the United States Marine Corps, Robert Cook returned to Quincy, where he practiced in a firm and argued many cases in the appellate courts and Supreme Court; he was appointed to serve as a circuit judge in 1983, then elected to the position in 1984; in 1991, he was appointed by the Supreme Court to the Fourth District Appellate Court; in 1994, he was elected to serve in the position, serving there until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his official duties, Robert Cook is also a frequent lecturer at judicial education seminars; and

WHEREAS, Robert Cook and his wife, Fran, have three wonderful children; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Robert Cook on the occasion of his retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Robert Cook as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
