2 | WHEREAS, Wallace H. Brown, known as "Wally" by his peers | ||||||
3 | and friends, has served the Forest Preserve District of DuPage | ||||||
4 | County for 20 years; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Wallace H. Brown has served as a Forest Preserve | ||||||
6 | District Commissioner; he has championed for the protection of | ||||||
7 | natural resources in DuPage County forest preserves; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Wallace H. Brown has worked to provide educational | ||||||
9 | and recreational opportunities for citizens of all ages in | ||||||
10 | DuPage County forest preserves; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Wallace H. Brown has served several Forest | ||||||
12 | Preserve District and County committees with distinction for | ||||||
13 | many years, including the Executive, Finance, Land | ||||||
14 | Acquisition, Golf Enterprise, Legislative, Stormwater, and | ||||||
15 | Special Budget committees; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Wallace H. Brown served as Vice Chairman of the | ||||||
17 | Enterprise Revenues Distribution Committee in 1991; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Wallace H. Brown has served as Vice Chairman of | ||||||
19 | the Special Committee on the Natural Areas Management Program | ||||||
20 | and as a member of the Headquarters Facility Planning Ad Hoc |

1 | Committee in 1996; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Wallace H. Brown served as Chairman of the | ||||||
3 | Landfill and Solid Waste Committee in 1988; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Wallace H. Brown served as Chairman of the | ||||||
5 | In-House Attorney Sub-Committee in 1989; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Wallace H. Brown served as Chairman of the Golf | ||||||
7 | Enterprise Committee in 1997; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Wallace H. Brown served as Assistant Treasurer of | ||||||
9 | the Forest Preserve District Board of Commissioners from 2002 | ||||||
10 | to 2004 and was later appointed Treasurer in 2007; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Wallace H. Brown has envisioned and supported the | ||||||
12 | acquisition and development of Oldfield Oaks Forest Preserve in | ||||||
13 | Darien, a natural area complete with a mature oak woodland and | ||||||
14 | open prairie and nearly 2 miles of looped limestone footpaths; | ||||||
15 | and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Wallace H. Brown has played an instrumental role | ||||||
17 | in other notable forest preserve projects, including the | ||||||
18 | acquisition of Lyman Woods Forest Preserve and Nature Center in | ||||||
19 | Downers Grove, the development of the Southern DuPage Regional | ||||||
20 | Trail and Lemont Road trailhead at Waterfall Glen Forest |

1 | Preserve in Darien, the acquisition and restoration of Mayslake | ||||||
2 | Peabody Estate in Oak Brook, the restoration of the Graue House | ||||||
3 | at Fullersburg Woods Forest Preserve in Oak Brook, the | ||||||
4 | operations of gas-to-energy facilities at Greene Valley and | ||||||
5 | Mallard Lake forest preserves, and the development of off-leash | ||||||
6 | dog areas at several forest preserves; and | ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Wallace H. Brown has been a model politician, true | ||||||
8 | to his values; therefore, be it
| ||||||
9 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
10 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
11 | gratefully acknowledge and recognize the outstanding service | ||||||
12 | of Wallace H. Brown to the Forest Preserve District of DuPage | ||||||
13 | County and its citizens, officially commend him for his long | ||||||
14 | and exemplary service, and congratulate him on his retirement; | ||||||
15 | and be it further

16 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
17 | presented to Wallace H. Brown as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
18 | respect.
