|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
James |
| 4 |
| "Mike" Brennan of Springfield, who passed away on October 24, |
| 5 |
| 2008; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Mike Brennan was born on August 8, 1948 in |
| 7 |
| Springfield; he was the son of James William and Darlene |
| 8 |
| Surbeck Brennan; he married Molly Oakey on April 24, 1981 in |
| 9 |
| Springfield; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Mike Brennan served faithfully with the |
| 11 |
| Springfield Fire Department for 29 years; he also served as a |
| 12 |
| lobbyist for the Associated Firefighters of Illinois (AFFI) for |
| 13 |
| 29 years and as legislative director of the Illinois Sheriffs |
| 14 |
| Association for 10 years; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, Mike Brennan was a member of numerous civic and |
| 16 |
| community organizations, including the St. Agnes Catholic |
| 17 |
| Church, Springfield Firefighters Local 37, and the Associated |
| 18 |
| Firefighters of Illinois; he was also a legislative |
| 19 |
| representative emeritus of AFFI and the Firefighters Lake Club; |
| 20 |
| and
|
| 21 |
| WHEREAS, Mike Brennan was an avid golfer; his most |
|

| cherished activity, however, was spending time with his family, |
| 2 |
| particularly his grandchildren and his many friends; and
|
| 3 |
| WHEREAS, Mike Brennan was preceded in death by his father, |
| 4 |
| William Brennan; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Mike Brennan is survived by his wife, Molly; his |
| 6 |
| children, Matthew Brennan, Michael (wife, Kari) Brennan, and |
| 7 |
| Melissa (husband, Dave) Wilson; his grandchildren, Michael and |
| 8 |
| Megan Wilson, Tyler and Austin Brennan, and Karli Christine and |
| 9 |
| Emma Brennan; his mother, Darlene Brennan; his sisters, Pamela |
| 10 |
| (husband, Thomas) Maskey and Patty (husband, Kenny) Kress; and |
| 11 |
| his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Mike Brennan will be remembered by all who knew |
| 13 |
| and loved him as a kind and gregarious man whose sense of humor |
| 14 |
| and intense dedication to his family, friends and fellow |
| 15 |
| firefighters endeared him to all he met; therefore, be it
|
| 16 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 17 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 18 |
| mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of James |
| 19 |
| "Mike" Brennan; and be it further

| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
