HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor our friend and colleague, Illinois State Representative Patricia Reid Lindner, for her many years of dedicated service to the people of the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Illinois State Representative Patricia Reid Lindner is a resident of Sugar Grove Township and serves the people of the 50th Legislative District as their State Representative in Springfield; she serves as a member of the House Republican Leadership team and serves as Assistant Minority Leader; she currently serves on several key State committees, including Judiciary II-Criminal Law, Adoption Reform, Computer Technology, Environmental Health, Labor, Gaming, and Homeland Security; she was appointed to serve on the Ethics Commission and the Juvenile Justice Transition Team; she is also a member of the Conference of Women Legislators, the Fire Caucus, the Environmental Caucus, and the Historic Preservation Caucus; and

WHEREAS, Representative Lindner is a graduate of East Aurora High School; she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in speech from Northwestern University and her Master of Science degree in political science from the University of Colorado; she then earned her Juris Doctor degree from Northern Illinois University; and

WHEREAS, Before entering the legislature, Representative Lindner served her community as a family law attorney; she previously served as a court-appointed attorney for the Kane County Juvenile Court and served as an Assistant Public Defender; she also served on the Kane County Family Law Committee for several years and served as chairperson of the Kane County Bar Association Legislative Committee; and

WHEREAS, Representative Lindner has a lengthy history of involvement in the governmental and political processes, dating back to her work in five congressional campaigns for her mother, former U.S. Congresswoman Charlotte T. Reid; she is a life-long Republican and an active member of her community; she has been a member of the Aurora Republican Women's Club since 1968 and is a precinct committeeman in Sugar Grove Township; and

WHEREAS, Representative Lindner has served her community further through her involvement in numerous civic organizations; she has served on the Family Counseling Board of Directors, the Women in Management Board of Directors, and the YWCA Board of Directors; she has held membership in the American Association of University Women, the Women's Development Council of Waubonsee Community College, the League of Women Voters, the Child Welfare Society, and the Paramount Arts Endowment Committee; she also provided legal aid for the YWCA for 10 years; and

WHEREAS, Numerous organizations have honored Representative Lindner for her dedicated service to this State, including the Illinois Library Association, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Dundee Township, the Illinois Coalition Against Sexual Assault, the Community Crisis Center, Ag Tech at Teeple Barn, the Illinois Farm Bureau, and the Illinois Groundwater Association; she was a recipient of the Jim McNish Advocacy Award from the DeKalb, Kane-South and Kendall Counties Chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness; she was also awarded the National Charlotte Danstrom Award in Government and the Women of Achievement Award from the Northern Fox Valley Chapter of Women in Management; and

WHEREAS, Representative Lindner and her husband, George, have been married 44 years and are the proud parents of four children and seven grandchildren; she is proud to be a life-long resident of Kane County; and

WHEREAS, Representative Lindner's great dedication to the safety and welfare of the people of the State of Illinois and her willingness to serve this State as an attorney, an advocate, and a State official have made her a role model to the members of this august body and to the citizens of this State; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor our colleague, Illinois State Representative Patricia Reid Lindner, for her service and dedication to this State and wish her continued prosperity and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Representative Lindner as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
