| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Donald R. Gould, | ||||||
| 4 | Jr., on his twenty years of service as the Fire Chief in | ||||||
| 5 | Prospect Heights; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, A member since 1966, Chief Gould has been the fire | ||||||
| 7 | chief since 1988; Chief Gould is a Chief Fire Officer Designee | ||||||
| 8 | of the Commission on Fire Accreditation International, a | ||||||
| 9 | graduate of the Oklahoma State University School of Fire | ||||||
| 10 | Protection, and an Illinois State Fire Marshal Certified Fire | ||||||
| 11 | Officer III; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, During his tenure with the Prospect Heights Fire | ||||||
| 13 | Protection District he has served in every rank, from volunteer | ||||||
| 14 | firefighter, lieutenant, captain, assistant chief, to his | ||||||
| 15 | current position as fire chief; as Assistant Chief, he was | ||||||
| 16 | instrumental in the implementation of paramedic service and | ||||||
| 17 | participation in the State Fire Marshal's training programs; | ||||||
| 18 | and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, As fire chief he has overseen several referendums | ||||||
| 20 | that have resulted in the purchase of the first aerial ladder | ||||||
| 21 | truck, expansion of the headquarters fire station and | ||||||
| 22 | construction of a second fire station, the consolidation of the | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Palwaukee Area Fire Protection District into the Prospect | ||||||
| 2 | Heights Fire Protection District, and the hiring of additional | ||||||
| 3 | personnel; when Chief Gould was first appointed the fire | ||||||
| 4 | protection district was served by paid-per-call firefighters | ||||||
| 5 | who responded when paged; those members who were also | ||||||
| 6 | paramedics worked part-time at the fire station as part of a | ||||||
| 7 | three-person crew to ensure a rapid response; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, In 2000, Chief Gould was appointed the fire | ||||||
| 9 | protection district's first full-time fire chief; since 2001 | ||||||
| 10 | Chief Gould has increased the on-duty 24/7 staffing to ten and | ||||||
| 11 | several additional full-time personnel have been hired, | ||||||
| 12 | including the deputy chiefs, captains, and nine | ||||||
| 13 | firefighter/paramedics; he has presented members with service | ||||||
| 14 | awards and plaques of recognition for each five-years of | ||||||
| 15 | service achieved; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, For twenty years Chief Gould has served his | ||||||
| 17 | community and deserves this honor; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 19 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 20 | congratulate Chief Donald Gould and wish him continued success | ||||||
| 21 | in the future; and be it further
| ||||||
| 22 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||

| 1 | presented to Chief Gould as a symbol of our respect.
