2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Illinois State | ||||||
4 | Capitol Nurse Nancy Wedeking on her retirement; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Nancy received her early education in Sunday | ||||||
6 | School, where she never missed a Sunday for fourteen years; she | ||||||
7 | graduated as an honor student from Beardstown High School in | ||||||
8 | 1963; she was a 1967 graduate of Passavant Area School of | ||||||
9 | Nursing in Jacksonville, where she received the first Dr. Mary | ||||||
10 | Louise Newman Award for the Outstanding Student in Obstetrics; | ||||||
11 | and she was number one in her class at St. John's School of | ||||||
12 | Anesthesiology in 1968; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, She was employed at Schmitt Hospital in | ||||||
14 | Beardstown, Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, and St. | ||||||
15 | John's Hospital in Springfield before beginning her career as a | ||||||
16 | nurse for the State of Illinois; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, She served as the Stratton Building Nurse for | ||||||
18 | twenty-four years, before being named by the Illinois | ||||||
19 | Department of Public Health to move to the Illinois State | ||||||
20 | Capitol in 2001; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, During her time as a nurse in the State Capitol, |

| |||||||
1 | she has seen an average of forty patients a day; during the | ||||||
2 | times that the Illinois House of Representatives and Senate are | ||||||
3 | in Session, she may see as many as nine hundred people in a | ||||||
4 | month; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Her many duties include: handling all emergencies | ||||||
6 | within the Capitol or outside on the Capitol grounds; having | ||||||
7 | food and drink readily available for patients in need; | ||||||
8 | providing a place of rest for stressed out State employees; | ||||||
9 | removing splinters; listening; caring; and being there in those | ||||||
10 | times when people need a friendly face; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Nancy finds time to be there for anyone in need of | ||||||
12 | her special touch; she is very caring, dedicated to her field, | ||||||
13 | and above all, one of the nicest and most sincere people to be | ||||||
14 | found in the State Capitol; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, When Nancy served as an anesthetist, she was | ||||||
16 | chosen to serve during the first kidney transplant to be | ||||||
17 | performed in Springfield; she was later the recipient of a | ||||||
18 | kidney transplant in 2001; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Nancy comes from a medical family; her mother and | ||||||
20 | Nancy both graduated from the same schools, Passavant School of | ||||||
21 | Nursing and St. John's School of Anesthesiology, and both | ||||||
22 | worked at Schmitt Hospital and Memorial Medical Center; and her |

1 | brother, Dr. Fred Lee, resides in Michigan; and | ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Nancy has been blessed with many good friends | ||||||
3 | throughout her life, but none more so than her sister, Peggy | ||||||
4 | White; therefore, be it
| ||||||
5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
6 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
7 | congratulate Nancy Wedeking on her retirement, we thank her for | ||||||
8 | her dedication to the men and women of the Illinois State | ||||||
9 | Capitol, and we wish her the best in all her future endeavors; | ||||||
10 | and be it further

11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
12 | presented to Nurse Nancy Wedeking on her retirement as a small | ||||||
13 | symbol of respect from her many friends and patients in the | ||||||
14 | Illinois State Capitol.
