| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of U.S. |
| 4 |
| Marine Corps Corporal Tony Mihalo, who was killed in action in |
| 5 |
| Afghanistan; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Corporal Tony Mihalo was a 2004 graduate of |
| 7 |
| Naperville North High School, where he played football, played |
| 8 |
| basketball, and wrestled; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, After the tragic events of September 11, 2001, |
| 10 |
| Corporal Tony Mihalo joined the United States Marine Corps |
| 11 |
| while still a student at Naperville North High School, serving |
| 12 |
| with the 2nd Battalion of the 7th Regiment; after completing |
| 13 |
| two tours of duty in Iraq, he expected to stay in the United |
| 14 |
| States, but later agreed to serve in Afghanistan in early 2008, |
| 15 |
| after the Marines asked for combat veterans to lead units |
| 16 |
| there; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, Corporal Tony Mihalo was awarded three Purple |
| 18 |
| Hearts for his service in Iraq and was awarded a fourth Purple |
| 19 |
| Heart after he was wounded in July of 2008 in Afghanistan; he |
| 20 |
| also earned two Combat Action Ribbons and a unit Certificate of |
| 21 |
| Commendation, among other accolades; and
|

| WHEREAS, Corporal Tony Mihalo enjoyed watching the History |
| 2 |
| Channel and professional wrestling; he planned to complete the |
| 3 |
| last two credits of his associate's degree and begin studying |
| 4 |
| criminal justice when he returned home in October; and
|
| 5 |
| WHEREAS, Corporal Tony Mihalo is survived by his mother, |
| 6 |
| Debbie (Bill) Wolfe; his sisters, Barbara and Christine; his |
| 7 |
| brother, Michael; and his fiancee, Megan Allen; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, Corporal Tony Mihalo will be remembered by all who |
| 9 |
| knew and loved him as a patriotic and fun-loving person whose |
| 10 |
| dedication to his country, his unit, and his family was |
| 11 |
| unmatched; therefore, be it
|
| 12 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 13 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 14 |
| mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of U.S. |
| 15 |
| Marine Corps Corporal Tony Mihalo; and be it further
|
| 16 |
| RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Corporal Tony Mihalo |
| 17 |
| and his willingness to serve his country, which led to him |
| 18 |
| making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
|
| 19 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 20 |
| presented to the family of Corporal Tony Mihalo as an |
| 21 |
| expression of our sympathy.
