| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of our dear |
| 4 |
| former colleague and friend, former Illinois State |
| 5 |
| Representative Maureen Murphy from Evergreen Park, who passed |
| 6 |
| away August 9, 2008; and
|
| 7 |
| WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Evergreen Park, Mrs. Murphy |
| 8 |
| held a variety of elected offices over the course of nearly |
| 9 |
| three decades and was known for her outspokenness and tenacity; |
| 10 |
| in the 1980s, she served on the board of Evergreen Park High |
| 11 |
| School and as Worth Township clerk; she spent four years in the |
| 12 |
| Illinois House of Representatives starting in 1993 and was a |
| 13 |
| member of the Cook County Board of Review, which handles |
| 14 |
| appeals of property tax assessments, from 1998 to 2007; her |
| 15 |
| stint as chairwoman of the county party lasted from 2002 to |
| 16 |
| 2004; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, She had a lifelong devotion to the Catholic Church |
| 18 |
| and she attended Mass at her home parish of Queen of Martyrs |
| 19 |
| daily; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, Mrs. Murphy leaves behind her husband, Jack; four |
| 21 |
| sons, Jason, Shaun, Michael, and Matthew; and four |
| 22 |
| grandchildren, Brennah, Maggie, Jack, and Nathan; therefore, |
