2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Thomas B. | ||||||
4 | Brinkoetter of Decatur, who passed away on July 1, 2008; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Thomas Brinkoetter was born on November 6, 1927 in | ||||||
6 | Decatur; he was the son of Bernard J. and Florence Marie | ||||||
7 | (Appenzeller) Brinkoetter; he married Jacqueline M. Cook on | ||||||
8 | June 6, 1949 in Decatur; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Thomas Brinkoetter was employed by A.E. Staley | ||||||
10 | Manufacturing Company from 1949 until 1958; he began selling | ||||||
11 | real estate in August of 1954; he then formed Tom Brinkoetter & | ||||||
12 | Co. in April of 1965, owning and operating the business until | ||||||
13 | his retirement in January of 1993, when his daughter Carla took | ||||||
14 | over the business; in 1977, he started the Tom Brinkoetter & | ||||||
15 | Co. Property Management; he was a graduate of the Illinois | ||||||
16 | Realtors Institute "G.R.I.", a certified Residential Salesman | ||||||
17 | "C.R.S.", and a certified Residential Broker "C.R.B."; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Thomas Brinkoetter was a member of the Decatur | ||||||
19 | Association of Realtors, the Illinois Association of Realtors, | ||||||
20 | and the National Association of Realtors; in 1981, he served as | ||||||
21 | Secretary of the Illinois Association of Realtors; he served on | ||||||
22 | several committees with the National, Illinois, and Decatur |

| |||||||
1 | Association of Realtors; he served as President of the Decatur | ||||||
2 | Association of Realtors in 1967 and Chairman of the Decatur | ||||||
3 | Multiple Listing Service in 1966; he also served as Dean of the | ||||||
4 | Illinois Realtors Institute for three years; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Thomas Brinkoetter was named Decatur Realtor of | ||||||
6 | the Year in 1983 in honor of his work; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Thomas Brinkoetter was a member of St. James | ||||||
8 | Catholic Church for his entire life; he was also a member of | ||||||
9 | the Metro Chamber of Commerce, the Golden "K" Kiwanis, the | ||||||
10 | American Legion Post #105, and the Knights of Columbus #577; | ||||||
11 | and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Thomas Brinkoetter was preceded in death by his | ||||||
13 | parents; his brother; and one grandchild; and | ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Thomas Brinkoetter is survived by his wife, | ||||||
15 | Jackie; his children, Carla J. Brinkoetter and her husband, | ||||||
16 | Terry Smith, Connie J. Ewing and her husband, Kevin, and Thomas | ||||||
17 | A. Brinkoetter and his wife, Patricia; his grandchildren, Adam | ||||||
18 | J. Trent, James R. Trent, Alyssa A. Brinkoetter, and Joseph A. | ||||||
19 | Brinkoetter; his great-grandchild, Emmit Trent; his sisters, | ||||||
20 | Evelyn F. Lonergan and Dorothy M. Raver and her husband, | ||||||
21 | Dwight; therefore, be it

1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
2 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
3 | mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Thomas | ||||||
4 | Brinkoetter; and be it further
| ||||||
5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
6 | presented to the family of Thomas Brinkoetter as an expression | ||||||
7 | of our sympathy.
