2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of United | ||||||
4 | States Army Specialist Justin Owen Penrod of Mahomet, who was | ||||||
5 | killed in action in Arab Jabour, Iraq, on August 11, 2007; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, He was born on December 18, 1982 in Danville; he | ||||||
7 | married Christina Whittington on November 1, 2004; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, He graduated from Lincoln's Challenge Military | ||||||
9 | Academy in Rantoul and later served as a drill instructor at | ||||||
10 | the Academy; he served in the Illinois National Guard from 2000 | ||||||
11 | to 2007 with the 2-130th Infantry; he was currently serving his | ||||||
12 | second tour in Iraq with the U.S. Army in the B Company 1-30 | ||||||
13 | INF BN with the 3rd Infantry Division out of Fort Stewart, | ||||||
14 | Georgia; he was a member of the V.F.W. in Farmer City; and he | ||||||
15 | enjoyed NASCAR, golfing, fishing, barbecuing, and spending | ||||||
16 | time with his family; and

17 | WHEREAS, Specialist Penrod received the Bronze Star, | ||||||
18 | Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service | ||||||
19 | Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Army | ||||||
20 | Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Infantryman | ||||||
21 | Badge, and M16 Award Expert Rifle Badge for his brave service; | ||||||

1 | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his sister, Emily | ||||||
2 | Penrod, and his brother, Ricky Reavis; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, The passing of United States Army Specialist | ||||||
4 | Justin Penrod will be deeply felt by his wife, Christina; his | ||||||
5 | son, Colin Owen Penrod; his father, George (Diane) Penrod; his | ||||||
6 | brother, Jim Penrod; his niece, Saddie Penrod; his sister, | ||||||
7 | Nicole Escobedo; his nephews, Terry and Trae Escobedo; his | ||||||
8 | nieces, Ty, Kyah, and Ema Ecobedo; his sister, Christi Shank; | ||||||
9 | his nephew, Brock Shank; his nieces, Courtney and Megan Shank; | ||||||
10 | his mother, Tina Tuttle; his father-in-law, Richard (Julie) | ||||||
11 | Whittington; his sister-in-law, Jennifer Ladage; his niece, | ||||||
12 | Emmilee Ladage; and his nephew, Hunter Ladage; therefore, be it

13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
14 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
15 | honor the memory of Specialist Justin Penrod and his | ||||||
16 | willingness to serve his country, which led to him making the | ||||||
17 | ultimate sacrifice; and be it further

18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
19 | presented to the family of Specialist Justin Penrod as a symbol | ||||||
20 | of our sincere sympathy.
