| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Marjorie |
4 |
| Ann Davis, who passed away on May 20, 2008; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Marjorie Ann Davis was born on February 22, 1936 |
6 |
| in Poplar Grove, Arkansas; her parents were Theresa Ewing and |
7 |
| Theodore Gordon, both of whom preceded her in death; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, Marjorie Ann Davis was taught in the Baptist faith |
9 |
| at an early age; she united with the Star of Bethlehem Baptist |
10 |
| Church, where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior; |
11 |
| and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, Marjorie Ann Davis attended M.M. Tate Elementary |
13 |
| and High School in Marvell, Arkansas, where she graduated with |
14 |
| the class of 1954; that same year, she met and married her |
15 |
| husband, Lee Davis (deceased), and moved to Chicago; to this |
16 |
| union, four children were born, Theresa, Wanda, Lee Jr., and |
17 |
| Rosalind; and
|
18 |
| WHEREAS, Marjorie Ann Davis was employed with RR Donnelly |
19 |
| in the early 1960s and at Oak Forest Hospital in the late |
20 |
| 1960s; in the 1970s, she began working for Boyle Midway, where |
21 |
| she met Tommy McFadden (deceased); to this union, two children |

| were born, William and Brandon; and
|
2 |
| WHEREAS, In the early 1980s, Marjorie Ann Davis joined the |
3 |
| Cathedral of Joy Baptist Church; she also became self-employed |
4 |
| and founded "Marjorie's Home Day Care", where she took care of |
5 |
| up to six children five days a week; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Marjorie Ann Davis was well known for her green |
7 |
| thumb and for her gift of caring for plants and making them |
8 |
| thrive; she loved to help those in need and, when cable |
9 |
| television became popular, her favorite pastime was watching |
10 |
| the Food Network; and |
11 |
| WHEREAS, Marjorie Ann Davis is survived by her loving |
12 |
| children, Theresa, Wanda, Lee Jr., Rosalind, William, and |
13 |
| Brandon; her grandchildren, Shawndra, Sherese, DeJuan, Carl |
14 |
| Jr., Anthony, and Lakia; her great-grandchildren, Tracee, |
15 |
| Treshawn, Darin Jr., Dionte, Dejai, DeAnna, Destiny, Datrice, |
16 |
| and Jaylon; her sister, Grace Griffin; her brother, Roy |
17 |
| McKinney (Myrtle); her niece, Greta Johnson; her nephews, |
18 |
| Lapoleon Sample Jr. and Derrick Webb; and a host of many other |
19 |
| relatives and friends; and |
20 |
| WHEREAS, Marjorie Ann Davis will be remembered by all who |
21 |
| knew and loved her for her strong will, perseverance, and |
22 |
| unwavering faith; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |

| mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of |
4 |
| Marjorie Ann Davis; and be it further
|
5 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
6 |
| presented to the family of Marjorie Ann Davis as an expression |
7 |
| of our sympathy.
