HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of  
3
Representatives of the State of Illinois wish to honor Douglas 
4
R. Brooks on the occasion of his retirement as Senior Vice 
5
President of Burke Beverage, Inc. in McCook; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Doug was employed with Burke Beverage, Inc. from 
7
1982 until May 1, 2008; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, Doug was born in Dubuque, Iowa on May 6, 1948, the 
9
son of Ralph and Thelma Brooks; he currently resides in Downers 
10
Grove; he met Janet Grobe at the University of Iowa and they 
11
were united in marriage in 1972; Doug and Janet have three 
12
children, Abigail, Jessica, and Zachary; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, Doug is a graduate of Northern Illinois University 
14
and the University of Illinois, where he obtained his Certified 
15
Public Accountant certificate; and

 
16
    WHEREAS, Doug has served as a director and Treasurer of the 
17
Associated Beer Distributors of Illinois and as a director of 
18
the Associated Beer Distributors of Illinois Service 
19
Corporation; he is a member of good standing with the LaGrange 
20
Kiwanis Club and is a member of the West Suburban Chamber of 
21
Commerce and the Illinois CPA Society; and

    WHEREAS, Doug has a passion for his hobbies of golfing, 
2
boating, and running, which he will undoubtedly spend more time 
3
pursuing during his retirement; therefore, be it

 
4
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6
congratulate Douglas R. Brooks on the occasion of his 
7
retirement from Burke Beverage, Inc. and wish him many 
8
enjoyable retirement years; and be it further

 
9
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10
presented to Douglas R. Brooks as a symbol of our esteem and 
11
respect.
