| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, One out of every five people in the United States |
| 3 |
| of America is a person with a disability; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, People with Disabilities aspire to embrace their |
| 5 |
| rich historical and cultural heritage and to promote the belief |
| 6 |
| in society that disability is a natural and beautiful part of |
| 7 |
| human diversity; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, The Americans with Disabilities Act was signed |
| 9 |
| July 26, 1990, to end discrimination and provide equal |
| 10 |
| opportunity for persons with disabilities in employment, |
| 11 |
| government services, public accommodations, commercial |
| 12 |
| facilities, and transportation; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Nearly one million people with disabilities live |
| 14 |
| and work in Cook County; and
|
| 15 |
| WHEREAS, The Disability Pride Parade was established in |
| 16 |
| Chicago as an annual event in July to change the way people |
| 17 |
| think about and define disability; therefore, be it
|
| 18 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 20 |
| support the mission and spirit of the Disability Pride Parade, |
