| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, On Friday, May 23, 2008 the Greater Salem Area | ||||||
| 3 | Foundation will hold an awards dinner to honor members of the | ||||||
| 4 | community; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Dr. S.E. Rubio will receive the Lifetime | ||||||
| 6 | Achievement Award; he is a doctor in Salem who has been honored | ||||||
| 7 | as the national Family Physician, in addition to other honors | ||||||
| 8 | throughout the years; he has been in practice for over 50 | ||||||
| 9 | years; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Chariya Tawjareon will receive the Humanitarian | ||||||
| 11 | of the Year Award; Chariya owns Salem Flora Radiology and is a | ||||||
| 12 | major supporter of events in the City, especially at the | ||||||
| 13 | Country Club and the Community Center; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Terry Mulvany will receive the Public Servant of | ||||||
| 15 | the Year Award; he has been the Director of the Department of | ||||||
| 16 | Emergency Management for nearly 30 years and is dedicated to | ||||||
| 17 | the safety of the community; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Larry Clark will receive the Civic Leader of the | ||||||
| 19 | Year Award; he is the President of Marion County Bank and Past | ||||||
| 20 | President of the Salem Business and Industrial Commission; he | ||||||
| 21 | is a supporter of civic activities in the community and has | ||||||
| |||||||

| 1 | been for many years; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Gerald Purcell will receive the Entrepreneur of | ||||||
| 3 | the Year Award; he owns Americana Products, which has grown | ||||||
| 4 | over the years adding new jobs to the community; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Julie Jones will receive the Teacher of the Year | ||||||
| 6 | Award; she has taught for 35 years and receives praise from | ||||||
| 7 | everyone who knows her; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Steve Jones will receive the Business of the Year | ||||||
| 9 | Award; he is the owner of two businesses in Salem, including | ||||||
| 10 | the Salem IGA; he helps with various organizations and | ||||||
| 11 | fundraising events, dinners, and programs and is an active | ||||||
| 12 | participant in the events of the community; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 14 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 15 | congratulate this fine class of men and women as they receive | ||||||
| 16 | well-deserved awards for their hard work and devotion to the | ||||||
| 17 | community; and be it further
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the Greater Salem Area Foundation Award Winners as | ||||||
| 20 | symbols of our respect.
