HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize Mathias Tabar and his
4 years of service in the education field; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Mathias M. Tabar is retiring after 18 years as the
6 Superintendent of Emmons School District 33 in Antioch; he was
7 born and spent his childhood in Chicago; he received his
8 Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from
9 Northeastern Illinois University in 1971; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He started his career in 1971 as a child care
11 worker and recreational activities coordinator at Central
12 Baptist Children's Home in Lake Villa; from 1973 to 1980 he
13 taught third grade and learning disabilities resource at
14 Pleviak School in Lake Villa; he received his Master of Arts
15 degree in Educational Administration at Chicago State
16 University in 1980; and
 
17     WHEREAS, He started his career in educational
18 administration in 1980 as principal of Sidney Grade School in
19 Sidney and Philo Grade School in Philo; from 1984 to 1990 he
20 returned to Lake County and became the principal at B. J.
21 Hooper Elementary School in Lindenhurst; he acquired his
22 Educational Specialist degree from Northeastern Illinois

1 University in 1989; in 1990 he became the superintendent of
2 Emmons School District 33; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Matt Tabar is active in the community; he welcomed
4 parent participation at Emmons School through volunteering at
5 the school and he worked closely with the Emmons PTO; he is an
6 Antioch Rotarian, serving on various committees and chairing
7 the Rotary's scholarship committee; he is a member of the Lake
8 County Superintendents; for many years he worked on the Special
9 Education District of Lake County Management Council,
10 including serving in the past as its president; and he is
11 currently an active member of the SEDOL Foundation; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Matt Tabar has provided change for the district,
13 including new additions to the school and promoting two
14 successful referenda; he has witnessed growth in the district
15 and has touched the lives of many children in the last eighteen
16 years; therefore, be it
 
17     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
19 congratulate Mathias Tabar on his retirement and wish him the
20 best in his future endeavors; and be it further
 
21     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22 presented to Mathias Tabar as a symbol of our sincere respect.
