| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Kathy |
4 |
| Lori Watkins of Chicago, who passed away on April 24, 2008; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Kathy Watkins was born on January 4, 1959 in |
6 |
| Alton; she was the oldest of two children born to the late Mark |
7 |
| and Opal Goins; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, Kathy Watkins attended Alton High School; she |
9 |
| graduated from Monmouth College in Monmouth in 1979 with an |
10 |
| associate's degree and cum laude from Rush University in |
11 |
| Chicago with a bachelor's degree in 1981; after graduating from |
12 |
| Rush University, she permanently relocated to Chicago; and
|
13 |
| WHEREAS, Kathy Watkins was employed as a Medical |
14 |
| Technologist at Rush Medical Center and as a Supervisor of |
15 |
| Medical Technology at Provident Hospital in Chicago; and
|
16 |
| WHEREAS, Kathy Watkins was married to Stanley Watkins; to |
17 |
| this union, two daughters were born, Karyn Brianne and Brittany |
18 |
| Antionette; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, Kathy Watkins was an active member of Crusader |
20 |
| Ministries for over 15 years under the leadership of Apostle |
|

| John Eckhart; as a member, she volunteered in the church's tape |

| ministry for several years and served as a Sunday school |
3 |
| teacher; she was also an active participant in the Volunteers |
4 |
| for America program, where she tutored foster children; she |
5 |
| received national recognition for her services; and |
6 |
| WHEREAS, Kathy Watkins was active in the Multiple Sclerosis |
7 |
| Society as a volunteer and participant in her support group; |
8 |
| she was also active in the 2nd Ward Democratic Party under |
9 |
| Committeeman Bobby Rush; and |
10 |
| WHEREAS, When she was not volunteering, Kathy Watkins |
11 |
| enjoyed the simple things in life, such as feeding birds, home |
12 |
| gardening, and reading; neighbors, friends, and even strangers |
13 |
| could count on her for a smile and a kind word; therefore, be |
14 |
| it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
16 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
17 |
| mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Kathy |
18 |
| Lori Watkins; and be it further
|
19 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
20 |
| presented to the family of Kathy Watkins as an expression of |
21 |
| our sympathy.
