HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Jeaness Medin of the Kendall County Food Pantry as she retires after twelve years of service to the community; and

WHEREAS, The food pantry has been operating for 35 years, the last 12 under the direction of Jeaness Medin; her husband, Curtis, ran the food pantry for four years before she stepped in; she got involved with the food pantry after she retired 25 years ago as secretary at Yorkville Congregational Church; and

WHEREAS, The food pantry operates with food purchased from the Northern Illinois Food Bank, as well as donations from residents, community groups, as well as local churches and businesses; the pantry uses the basement of the Kendall County Farm Bureau in Yorkville, a space that was once a meat locker; a donor pays the rent and utilities on the building, which does not include heat or air conditioning; and

WHEREAS, She credits the tireless dedication of volunteers for keeping the Kendall County Food Pantry running over the years; and

WHEREAS, Jeaness Medin grew up on a farm in Yorkville and has lived there since she was three; she plans to keep up with the food pantry program in her retirement and continue to volunteer from time to time; she wants to concentrate on other volunteer groups she works with, be with her family, and to quilt; in her retirement, she will have more time to concentrate on pastoral care, and work she does visiting the elderly at home and in nursing facilities; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Jeaness Medin and wish her the best in her retirement; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jeaness Medin as a symbol of our respect.
