HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Earl Reitz on the
4 occasion of being the first recipient of the Earl
5 Reitz/Heartbeat of a Fireman Award; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Earl Reitz was born on May 26, 1929; he married
7 Pearl Ann Schaack in October of 1950; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Earl Reitz served his country with pride and
9 distinction as a member of the United States Army during the
10 Korean War, spending his time in Germany; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Earl Reitz was employed at and managed the IGA
12 grocery store in Waterloo for over 25 years; and
 
13     WHEREAS, Earl Reitz joined the Waterloo Fire Department in
14 1957; his father, George Reitz, was an active fireman from 1931
15 to 1958; the father and son served in the department together
16 for a year; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Earl Reitz was an active firefighter with the
18 Waterloo Fire Department from 1957 until 1977, when he became
19 an honorary active, a position that he holds today; and

1     WHEREAS, Earl Reitz served in many important capacities
2 during his tenure with the Waterloo Fire Department; he served
3 as secretary in 1959 and 1960; he served as vice president in
4 1961; he also served as president in 1962 and 1963; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Earl Reitz and his wife, Pearl Ann, have 3
6 children, Jane Gaitsch (Darrell), Judi Aubuchon (Charlie), and
7 Jeff Reitz (Lori), and 4 grandsons, Adam Gaitsch (Melissa),
8 Stephen Aubuchon, Jonathan Aubuchon, and Ian Reitz; and
 
9     WHEREAS, Earl Reitz's dedication to his profession and his
10 willingness to serve his community make him a model for the
11 people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
 
12     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14 congratulate Earl Reitz on the occasion of being the first
15 recipient of the Earl Reitz/Heartbeat of a Fireman Award and
16 wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be
17 it further
 
18     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19 presented to Earl Reitz as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
