| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |

| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Don Markowski, |
| 4 |
| Fire Chief of the Glendale Heights Fire Department, on his |
| 5 |
| retirement after 27 years of serving the community; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, He began his career as a Firefighter and EMT in |
| 7 |
| 1981 with the Department; he was promoted to Assistant Chief in |
| 8 |
| 1995; and he was promoted to Chief in 2004; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, He has served as Director of the Illinois Fire |
| 10 |
| Chief's Association, Secretary to the DuPage Fire Chief's |
| 11 |
| Association, Chairman of the Police & Fire Chief's Operation |
| 12 |
| Committee, a member and Past President of MABAS, and a member |
| 13 |
| of the Northern Alliance of Fire Protection Districts; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, He has also served his community as a member of |
| 15 |
| the Glen Oaks Foundation Board, Business Leader of the Year |
| 16 |
| 2001 for the Glendale Heights Chamber, Commissioner for the |
| 17 |
| Glendale Heights Youth Coalition, Founding Member and Past |
| 18 |
| President for the Glendale Heights Character Counts Coalition, |
| 19 |
| a member of the DuPage Character Counts Coalition, a member of |
| 20 |
| the Glen Oaks Hospital Safety Committee, and he served at the |
| 21 |
| Annual Blood Drive in conjunction with the Glendale Heights |
| 22 |
| Junior Women's Club; therefore, be it
