| WHEREAS, Melrose Park Chief of Police Sam Pitassi has been |
| 3 |
| named Man of the Year by the Flowers of Italy Club; and
|
| 4 |
| WHEREAS, He was named Police Chief on May 1, 2007 by the |
| 5 |
| Melrose Park village board; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, He was born in 1952 and his family moved to |
| 7 |
| Melrose Park when he was two; he attended Sacred Heart Grade |
| 8 |
| School and Proviso East High School; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, He attended Triton College and earned an |
| 10 |
| associate's degree in police science in 1972 and a certificate |
| 11 |
| in police corrections in 1974; he received his bachelor's |
| 12 |
| degree in criminal justice from Lewis University in 1980; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Sam Pitassi joined the Melrose Park Police |
| 14 |
| Department in 1974 as a patrolman; in 1982 he was promoted to |
| 15 |
| detective of investigations; he was promoted to sergeant in |
| 16 |
| 1995 and lieutenant in 1997; he was made deputy chief in 1999 |
| 17 |
| and served in that capacity for eight years; and
|
| 18 |
| WHEREAS, Sam Pitassi has been married to his wife, Rosa, |
| 19 |
| since 1984; they have two children Christina and Sam, Jr.; |
