HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Betty J.
4 Green-Boston of Chicago, who passed away on January 25, 2008;
5 and
 
6     WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston was born on August 8, 1949
7 in Chicago; her parents were Martha and Willie James Pugh; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston accepted Christ at an early
9 age and was baptized; she renewed her commitment in Christ in
10 her adult years and joined the Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist
11 Church under the leadership of Reverend Johnnie Miller; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston graduated from Farragut
13 High School in 1968; she continued her education at Malcolm X
14 College; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston was employed with Sears,
16 Roebuck and Company for many years; she was employed with the
17 Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court at the time of her
18 passing; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston was joined in holy matrimony
20 to Roosevelt Green and to Norris Boston, both of whom preceded

1 her in death; she was the mother of three children, Richard,
2 Raymond, and Sohn; and
 
3     WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston led a very colorful and busy
4 life through her involvement in her church and N.A., where she
5 was known as a gifted speaker, mentor, organizer, and leader;
6 and
 
7     WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston was preceded in death by her
8 father; her husbands; her brother, Melvin; and her son,
9 Raymond; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston is survived by her loving
11 mother, Martha A. Pugh; her sons, Richard, Michael, and Sohn;
12 her sisters, Loretta (George) and Tonyja; her brothers, Coy,
13 Willie Jr. (Corliss), and Carl; her 13 grandchildren; and her
14 many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston will be remembered by all
16 who knew and loved her as a warm and compassionate woman with
17 an exceedingly giving heart, who was tireless and outspoken in
18 helping anyone who needed assistance; therefore, be it
 
19     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
20 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
21 mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Betty
