HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of the members of the
3 Illinois House of Representatives that the National
4 Association of Realtors is celebrating its centennial year in
5 2008; and
 
6     WHEREAS, The National Association of Realtors, "The Voice
7 for Real Estate", is America's largest trade association,
8 representing 1.3 million members, including NAR's institutes,
9 societies, and councils, involved in all aspects of the
10 residential and commercial real estate industries; and
 
11     WHEREAS, The National Association of Realtors is the
12 leading advocate for America's property owners, fights for the
13 right to own, use, and transfer real property, and, serves as a
14 valuable resource for its members, the public, and public
15 policy makers on real estate issues; and
 
16     WHEREAS, The National Association of Realtors was founded
17 as the National Association of Real Estate Exchanges on May 12,
18 1908 in Chicago, with 120 founding members, 19 Board, and one
19 State Association; and
 
20     WHEREAS, The City of Chicago is still the home today of the
21 National Association of Realtors; and

1     WHEREAS, WHEREAS, 60,000 citizens of Illinois are members
2 of the Illinois Association of Realtors and the National
3 Association of Realtors; therefore, be it
 
4     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6 congratulate President Richard F. Gaylord, the members and
7 staff of the National Association of Realtors, and its member
8 State and local associations throughout the country; and be it
9 further
 
10     RESOLVED, That we salute the National Association of
11 Realtors and extend our best wishes for continued success
12 during its second century; and be it further
 
13     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14 presented to 2008 National Association of Realtors President
15 Richard F. Gaylord.
