HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the owners and employees of the First Community Bank and Trust of Beecher on the occasion of winning Illinois State Representative Lisa Dugan's "Good Neighbor" Business of the Year Award; and

WHEREAS, The First Community Bank and Trust of Beecher won the "Good Neighbor" Business of the Year Award based upon its unwavering support of the Beecher School District and the Beecher and Peotone communities; the bank was the first business that approached the school district to form a business/education partnership, inspiring other businesses to follow suit; electronic school signs, scorer's tables, scoreboards, and other various major items have been provided to the school district due to this generous partnership; and

WHEREAS, The First Community Bank has participated in numerous programs to assist the Beecher and Peotone communities; the bank has been an active supporter in the Beecher Education Foundation since its inception in 1995, raising over $300,000 for the purchase of unbudgeted materials, equipment, and programs for the Beecher School District; the bank has actively supported the Beecher Fourth of July Commission for over 80 years, helping to make major improvements to Firemen's Park for the benefit of the community; the bank has also supported the Beecher Community Scholarship Association since 1963, which has raised over $574,000 in scholarships for deserving graduates of Beecher High School, and has assisted in raising over $120,000 for the Peotone Community Scholarship Association; and

WHEREAS, The First Community Bank is a member of the Beecher Chamber of Commerce and the Peotone Chamber of Commerce with officers or employees serving on the Chambers' Boards; the bank has supported all of the Chambers' endeavors; and

WHEREAS, The First Community Bank was instrumental in creating the Beecher Community Library, graciously facilitating the transaction below market value; and

WHEREAS, The First Community Bank has initiated and sponsored a party at the Prairie Pointe business complex with fellow businesses located at the Pointe for the past two years, donating a significant portion of the proceeds to the Beecher Beautification Commission; and

WHEREAS, The First Community Bank conducts tours for various accounting, government, economic, and business classes from the Beecher High School; the bank also provides employment opportunities for Beecher High School students through the high school's school-to-work program; and

WHEREAS, To further its community involvement, The First Community Bank also encourages its employees to participate in numerous local groups to help the community; and

WHEREAS, The commitment and dedication shown by the employees and owners of The First Community Bank and Trust of Beecher makes this business a model for the organizations and citizens of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the owners and employees of the First Community Bank and Trust of Beecher on the occasion of winning Illinois State Representative Lisa Dugan's "Good Neighbor" Business of the Year Award and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to a representative of the First Community Bank and Trust of Beecher as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
