| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives and State Representative Monique D. Davis are |
| 4 |
| saddened to learn of the death of Donald Young of Chicago, who |
| 5 |
| passed away December 23, 2007; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Donald Young was born on April 5, 1960 to Norma |
| 7 |
| Jean Kendricks Young; he accepted Christ at an early age and |
| 8 |
| directed a choir at his church during his childhood; he was a |
| 9 |
| 1978 graduate of Thornridge High School; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Donald Young worked for Johnson Products, Garden |
| 11 |
| State Life Insurance Company, for Trinity United Church of |
| 12 |
| Christ, and at Mount Sinai Hospital during his life; he studied |
| 13 |
| to become a physician's assistant and worked to complete his |
| 14 |
| education; he earned his Associate of Arts degree as a |
| 15 |
| physician's assistant at Malcolm X College and earned his |
| 16 |
| Bachelor's degree at Chicago State University; in May 2007 he |
| 17 |
| earned his Master's degree in education at the University of |
| 18 |
| Illinois (Circle Campus); he taught the fourth grade at |
| 19 |
| Guggenheim Elementary School; and
|
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, During his studies to become a physician's |
| 21 |
| assistant, Donald Young received the Marcelle Williams |
| 22 |
| Scholarship for Excellence in Medical Studies; and
|
|
|

| WHEREAS, Donald Young was a member of Trinity United Church |
| 2 |
| of Christ and a founding member of the Sanctuary Choir; he was |
| 3 |
| an ordained deacon of the church, and served as director of the |
| 4 |
| Music Department; he was a member of the Gospel Music Workshop |
| 5 |
| of America (GMWA) and the Gospel Music According to Chicago |
| 6 |
| (GMAC) with his friend and teacher, Dr. Jeffrey Paul Radford; |
| 7 |
| and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, The passing of Donald Young will be deeply felt by |
| 9 |
| his mother, Norma Jean Kendricks Young; his sisters, Delores, |
| 10 |
| Lorraine, and Henrietta Young; his brothers, Joseph, James |
| 11 |
| (Tammy), and Augustine Young; his aunt, Mamie Kendricks; his |
| 12 |
| uncles, Leroy Kendricks (Diane), Fred Collins (Vernita), |
| 13 |
| Robert Collins, and Edward Collins (Maria); his Godmother, |
| 14 |
| Evelyn Jones; his Godchildren, Kris Squalls, Jerry Lee, Jr., |
| 15 |
| Demarrius Patton, and Christina Reed; a host of nieces and |
| 16 |
| nephews; other relatives; and his friends and family from |
| 17 |
| Trinity United Church of Christ; therefore, be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 19 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 20 |
| mourn, along with his many family members and friends, the |
| 21 |
| passing of Donald Young; and be it further
