HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of former
4 State Representative Andrew J. McGann of Chicago, who recently
5 passed away; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Andrew McGann was born August 3, 1925 in Chicago;
7 he was educated at the Worsham College of Mortuary Science and
8 was employed as a funeral director; he was the director of
9 Southwest Financial Banks, Inc.; and
 
10     WHEREAS, He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the
11 United States Navy, and the Korean War, serving with the United
12 States Marine Corps; as a result of his military service, he
13 received the Presidential unit citation, the Sir
14 Knight-Sovereign Military, and the Order of MALTA; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Representative McGann began serving in the
16 Illinois House of Representatives in 1983; he served as
17 vice-chairman on the Committees on Higher Education, a member
18 of the Implementation of Chicago School Reform Committee,
19 chairman of the Mental Health Committee, vice-chairman of the
20 Revenue Committee, and as a member of the Legislative Audit
21 Commission; and

1     WHEREAS, Andrew McGann was the beloved husband of Lois (nee
2 Zumerling) and the late Mary Elizabeth McGann (nee Windle); the
3 devoted father of Elizabeth Marie (James) Hogan C.C.S.P.D.,
4 Eileen Marie, and the late Andrew J. (Wendy) McGann Jr.; the
5 cherished grandfather of Adam, Craig, Mary Miller, James Andrew
6 Hogan, Kyle Brinker, Amy, Betsy, Erin, and Katie McGann; the
7 fond stepfather of Karl (Mila) and Brian (Gina) Brinker; the
8 memorable brother of Peg (the late Thomas) Redmond, the late
9 Patrick (the late Mary) McGann Jr. Lt. C.P.D., and Mary Sarah
10 "Sally" (the late John Sgt. C.P.D.) Fitzgerald; the loving
11 uncle of the Honorable Judge Patrick E. (Kathy), William (Sue),
12 Dr. John (Marie), Edward McGann, Virginia McGann Evans, Michael
13 (Joyce) Windle, Mary Margaret Redmond, Kathleen (Mike)
14 Caliendo, Patricia (Seamus) McGlinchey, and the late Timothy
15 (Diane) McGann; and a great uncle to many; therefore, be it
 
16     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
18 mourn, along with his family, friends, and former colleagues,
19 the passing of former State Representative Andrew McGann; and
20 be it further
 
21     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22 presented to the family of former State Representative Andrew
23 J. McGann as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
