HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are saddened to  learn of the death of
Joyce Lee 
4
Sowerby of Thayer, who passed away on January 22, 2008; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby was born on November 25, 1939 in 
6
Thayer, the daughter of George H. and Mary L. Gazda Sowerby; 
7
and

 
8
    WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby graduated from Virden High School 
9
with the Class of 1957; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby worked for the Illinois Department 
11
of Revenue as a public service administrator, serving more than 
12
46 years with the Department; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby was a member of Sacred Heart Church 
14
in Virden; she was an avid bowler and a member of the 
15
Springfield Bowling Association, where she was a past 
16
president; she also enjoyed attending area live theater 
17
performances and was very family oriented; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby was preceded in death by her father, 
19
George; and

    WHEREAS, Joyce Sowerby is survived by her mother, Mary; her 
2
sister, Linda Mae Miller; her nephews, Mark E. Tisckos and Chad 
3
M. (wife Vivian) Tisckos; and her great-niece, Stephanie N. 
4
Tisckos; therefore, be it

 
5
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
7
mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Joyce 
8
Sowerby; and be it further

 
9
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10
presented to the family of Joyce Sowerby as an expression of 
11
our sympathy.
