2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Molly Reeves of | ||||||
4 | Danville, who was recently named 2008 Miss Illinois County Fair | ||||||
5 | Queen; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Molly Reeves took the title of Miss Illinois | ||||||
7 | County Fair Queen at the Illinois Association of Agricultural | ||||||
8 | Fairs convention in Springfield on January 20, 2008; she won | ||||||
9 | the Miss Georgetown Fair competition last August in order to | ||||||
10 | compete with 66 other county fair queens for the title; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, She will reign over the Illinois State Fair from | ||||||
12 | August 8 through 17, 2008; 67 contestants competed in evening | ||||||
13 | gown and swimsuit divisions, gave a one-minute speech on stage, | ||||||
14 | and had a four-minute private interview with the judges off | ||||||
15 | stage for the first round; after the top 12 contestants were | ||||||
16 | announced, the slate was wiped clean of scoring; the final | ||||||
17 | round included repeating the one-minute speech, swimsuit and | ||||||
18 | evening gown competitions, and a two-minute private interview, | ||||||
19 | and each contestant was given three questions to answer; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Her duties as Miss Illinois County Fair Queen will | ||||||
21 | include reigning over the Illinois State Fair and attending the | ||||||
22 | DuQuoin County Fair and visiting as many county fairs as |

1 | possible; next year is the 50th anniversary of the state fair | ||||||
2 | queen pageant, and she will be helping to plan for this special | ||||||
3 | convention; she is taking a semester off from school this | ||||||
4 | spring and will attend Southern Illinois University in the | ||||||
5 | fall, majoring in fashion design and minoring in Spanish; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Molly Reeves will receive access to wardrobe | ||||||
7 | through assistance from pageant sponsors and the Illinois | ||||||
8 | County Fair Queen Directors Association; she will have a car | ||||||
9 | and gas reimbursement when she represents the Department of | ||||||
10 | Agriculture; she will also be employed by the Department during | ||||||
11 | the months of June, July, and August; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Molly was the first runner-up in the 2005 Miss | ||||||
13 | Vermilion County Fair competition and won the 2006 Miss East | ||||||
14 | Central Illinois competition, the local title in the Miss | ||||||
15 | America competition; she has worked with Georgetown Fair | ||||||
16 | pageant directors Karen Thornsbrough and Jill Pope every Monday | ||||||
17 | since she won that title; and | ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Molly Reeves is a graduate of Schlarman High | ||||||
19 | School and is the daughter of Art Reeves and Susan Willaman; | ||||||
20 | therefore, be it

21 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
22 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |

1 | congratulate Molly Reeves on this honor and wish her the best | ||||||
2 | in her future endeavors; and be it further

3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
4 | presented to the 2008 Miss Illinois County Fair Queen, Molly | ||||||
5 | Reeves, as a symbol of our respect.
