HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate John R. Quigley, 
4
President and Chief Executive Officer of the Elmhurst Chamber 
5
of Commerce and Industry, on receiving the 2007 Chairman's 
6
Award from the Elmhurst Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, As President and CEO, John Quigley is responsible 
8
for the day-to-day operations of the 650-member Chamber, the 
9
largest organization representing Elmhurst's business 
10
community, and works in partnership with the Board, Executive 
11
Committee, and Standing Committees of Governmental Affairs (as 
12
Chair), Marketing, Membership, and Ways and Means; he also 
13
serves as General Chairperson of the Elmfest Steering Committee 
14
and Co-Chair of the Elmhurst Memorial Day Parade Committee; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, In addition, John Quigley serves on the Elmhurst 
16
City Centre's Board of Directors (ex-officio), both the Spring 
17
Road and York/Vallette Business Association Boards, the 
18
Elmhurst Economic Development Commission (ex-officio), the 
19
Elmhurst Visitor & Tourism Advisory

Board and Central Business 
20
District (CBD) Retail Development Grant Committee; and

 
21
    WHEREAS, His community service has included Executive 
22
Committee roles with both the Elmhurst College Bluejay Backers

(Secretary from 1991-99 and current President) and Kiwanis Club 
2
of Elmhurst (President in 2005-06 and Bulletin Editor from 
3
2000-Present); he also has volunteered his time to the benefit 
4
of the Elmhurst Jaycees, Elmhurst YMCA, Elmhurst Children's 
5
Assistance Foundation (ECAF), and numerous other charitable 
6
causes; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, Prior to joining the Chamber, John Quigley spent 
8
nine years at Elmhurst College, his Alma Mater, as Associate 
9
Director of Communications; while there, he served on the 
10
Chamber Board (1994-97), chaired the green-coated Ambassadors 
11
and many of the major special event committees (Annual Meeting, 
12
Golf Outing, etc.), and was an eight-year member of the Elmfest 
13
Steering Committee (1992-99); and

 
14
    WHEREAS, In 1997, the Chamber honored John Quigley for his 
15
service with its prestigious Duke of Elmhurst Award; John 
16
Quigley is a 1977 Elmhurst College graduate with a Bachelor of 
17
Arts degree (double majoring in business administration and 
18
public speaking); he enjoyed an award-winning, 15-year career 
19
in journalism, including a six-year stint as Sports Editor of 
20
the Elmhurst Press and sister newspapers before returning to 
21
his Alma Mater; he is a graduate of both Immaculate Conception 
22
High School (1973) and IC Grade School (1969); and
 
23
    WHEREAS,

Commerce Executives, John Quigley has contributed at seminars 
2
and conferences as a guest speaker and presenter, and assisted 
3
with special events as a master of ceremonies, announcer and 
4
auctioneer; he was born, raised, educated, and has worked in 
5
Elmhurst for most of his 52 years; he resides in Villa Park 
6
with his fiance, Anne Lucas; therefore, be it

 
7
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
9
congratulate John R. Quigley on receiving this award and wish 
10
him the best in his future; and be it further

 
11
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
12
presented to the John R. Quigley as a symbol of our respect and 
13
esteem.
