| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate Patrick J. Kenny on |
| 4 |
| the occasion of his retirement as Fire Chief of the Village of |
| 5 |
| Hinsdale on January 4, 2008; and
|
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, Patrick J. Kenny earned his associate's degree |
| 7 |
| from College of DuPage and his bachelor's degree from Loyola |
| 8 |
| University; he is a graduate of the Executive Fire Officer |
| 9 |
| program at the National Fire Academy; and
|
| 10 |
| WHEREAS, Patrick J. Kenny has served the Illinois Fire |
| 11 |
| Service for over 25 years; he began his firefighting career |
| 12 |
| with the Village of Hinsdale in 1983; he was promoted to the |
| 13 |
| position of Fire Chief in 1994; and
|
| 14 |
| WHEREAS, Patrick J. Kenny has been the recipient of many |
| 15 |
| awards in recognition of his fine work; he was the recipient of |
| 16 |
| the 2004 Fire Chief of the Year Award from the Illinois Fire |
| 17 |
| Chiefs Association; he is a current recipient of the Chief Fire |
| 18 |
| Officer Designation from the Center for Public Safety |
| 19 |
| Excellence; he was also a nominee for the Fire Chief of the |
| 20 |
| Year Award Career category for the International Fire Chiefs |
| 21 |
| Association; and
|

| WHEREAS, Patrick J. Kenny has been active with many |
| 2 |
| firefighting and emergency preparedness organizations; he |
| 3 |
| served on the Illinois Terrorism Task Force from 2006 to 2007; |
| 4 |
| he serves as a Director for the Metropolitan Fire Chiefs |
| 5 |
| Association; he serves as an instructor for the Illinois Fire |
| 6 |
| Chiefs Association, the Illinois Fire Service Institute, and |
| 7 |
| Northwestern University; he is also a Past President of the |
| 8 |
| Illinois Fire Chiefs Association; and
|
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Following his retirement, Patrick J. Kenny will |
| 10 |
| serve as Director of Fire and Emergency Services of the Western |
| 11 |
| Springs Fire Department and as a paid-on-call Deputy Chief; and
|
| 12 |
| WHEREAS, Patrick J. Kenny has developed an excellent |
| 13 |
| reputation throughout the State of Illinois for his work in |
| 14 |
| promoting professionalism, safety, and emergency operations |
| 15 |
| within the firefighting service; his leadership has resulted in |
| 16 |
| numerous station, service, and equipment improvements within |
| 17 |
| the Village of Hinsdale's fire service; therefore, be it
|
| 18 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
| 19 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 20 |
| congratulate Patrick J. Kenny on the occasion of his retirement |
| 21 |
| and wish him continued success and happiness in his future |
| 22 |
| endeavors; and be it further
