HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jim Cartwright on 
4
being inducted into the National Wrestling Federation Hall of 
5
Fame; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Jim Cartwright is a 1969 graduate of East Leyden 
7
High School in Franklin Park, where he was a successful member 
8
of the wrestling team; and

 
9
    WHEREAS, After graduation, he began a solid wrestling 
10
career at Illinois State University; after his college 
11
graduation he became a teacher and wrestling coach at Conant 
12
High School in Hoffman Estates; and

 
13
    WHEREAS, Jim Cartwright enjoyed twenty-five years as Head 
14
Coach; his teams had 425 dual meet victories and seventeen 
15
Mid-Suburban League championships; his teams captured fifteen 
16
regional titles, five sectional titles, three State runner-up 
17
trophies, and were ranked nationally several times; and

 
18
    WHEREAS, Jim Cartwright coached eighty-three State 
19
qualifiers and thirty-two State place winners, eight of whom 
20
became State champions; and

    WHEREAS, Jim Cartwright was also involved with the Illinois 
2
Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association; he was inducted 
3
into the Hall of Fame and served both as president and 
4
treasurer at different times; he has been a member of the 
5
Freestyle National Wrestling coaching staff seventeen times, 
6
serving ten times as head coach; he has also hosted 
7
developmental camps and clinics for both freestyle and 
8
Greco-Roman wrestling for the past thirty-two years; 
9
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
11
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
12
congratulate Jim Cartwright and wish him the best in his future 
13
endeavors; and be it further

 
14
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15
presented to Jim Cartwright as a symbol of our respect.
