| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |

| Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of John H. |
4 |
| Goodspeed Jr. of Centralia, who passed away on November 12, |
5 |
| 2007; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, He was born on March 22, 1931 in Chicago; his |
7 |
| parents were John H. Goodspeed Sr. and Dorothy (Meyer) |
8 |
| Goodspeed; he married Ellen Sanders on October 5, 2006; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Goodspeed originated the business of |
10 |
| factory-built municipal water distribution equipment and water |
11 |
| booster pump stations, founding Engineered Fluid (Process) |
12 |
| Incorporated in 1964; he was educated in St. Louis and served |
13 |
| in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955, at the rank of |
14 |
| machinery repairman first class; he served in the Korean War; |
15 |
| and he received the Kaskaskia College Entrepreneur of the Year |
16 |
| award in 2004; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Goodspeed was an avid golfer and deep-water |
18 |
| sports fisherman, winning many tournaments, most notably the |
19 |
| Ernest Hemingway Torneo Touristico Internacional in Copa Lake |
20 |
| Zaza, Cuba, in 1978, the Walker Cay, Bahamas in 1988 (which was |
21 |
| featured on the cover of South Florida Angler's Guide), and the |
22 |
| Stuart Light Tackle Tournament in 1990; his family remembers |
