2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Mundelein | ||||||
4 | After School Coalition on the occasion of its winning a | ||||||
5 | Governor's Home Town Award for 2007; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, The Governor's Home Town Awards are given by the | ||||||
7 | Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to | ||||||
8 | diverse volunteer efforts across the State; the awards are | ||||||
9 | given in eight categories, based on community population; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, As a spin-off of the Lake County After School | ||||||
11 | Coalition, which is co-chaired by Mundelein Police Chief, | ||||||
12 | Raymond J. Rose, and State Representative Kathleen A. Ryg, the | ||||||
13 | Mundelein After School Coalition was developed in 2004 to | ||||||
14 | further the community's commitment to provide a preventive, | ||||||
15 | alternative method to reduce crime and protect young people by | ||||||
16 | promoting healthy after school activities and by reducing | ||||||
17 | juvenile crime during "out-of-school" time; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, The Mundelein After School Coalition was founded | ||||||
19 | under the direction of Mundelein Police Chief, Raymond J. Rose, | ||||||
20 | along with several community leaders from the Village of | ||||||
21 | Mundelein, the Mundelein Park District, the Fremont Public | ||||||
22 | Library, Omni Youth Services, and Mundelein High School; and |

1 | WHEREAS, The programs of the Mundelein After School | ||||||
2 | Coalition work with children in three elementary school | ||||||
3 | districts, one public high school district, and one private | ||||||
4 | parochial school to design and organize after school | ||||||
5 | activities, such as dances, character-building sessions, and | ||||||
6 | various community events in the effort to prevent delinquency | ||||||
7 | by giving young people alternatives to drugs, gangs, and other | ||||||
8 | negative elements and to promote positive youth development; | ||||||
9 | and | ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, The Village of Mundelein has received 15 | ||||||
11 | Governor's Home Town Awards for its various programs since | ||||||
12 | 1995, winning prizes nine years in a row, making Mundelein one | ||||||
13 | of the program's most recognized communities since the | ||||||
14 | Governor's Home Town Award program was started in 1982; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, A commemorative plaque and road signs will be | ||||||
16 | presented to representatives of the Mundelein After School | ||||||
17 | Coalition in Springfield on November 27, 2007 in recognition of | ||||||
18 | its many contributions to the children of the Village of | ||||||
19 | Mundelein; therefore, be it

20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
21 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
22 | congratulate the members of the Mundelein After School |

1 | Coalition on the occasion of winning a Governor's Home Town | ||||||
2 | Award and wish them continued success in their future | ||||||
3 | endeavors; and be it further

4 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
5 | presented to the Mundelein After School Coalition and Mundelein | ||||||
6 | Police Chief, Raymond J. Rose, as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
7 | respect.
