2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Police Chief Lloyd | ||||||
4 | Unland on thirty years of service to the Village of Minooka; | ||||||
5 | and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Chief Unland is a past member of MADD, the Grundy | ||||||
7 | Area Career Education Cooperative, the National Police | ||||||
8 | Officer's Association, the Cook County Crime Commission, the | ||||||
9 | Illinois Sheriff's Association, and the Champs Board; he served | ||||||
10 | as President of the Grundy County Crime Prevention Commission, | ||||||
11 | and as the director of the Minooka EMA; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Chief Unland is currently a member of the | ||||||
13 | Channahon/Minooka Chamber of Commerce, the Minooka Lions Club, | ||||||
14 | where he serves as Secretary and Treasurer, a member of the | ||||||
15 | Membership Committee & Legislative Committee Chairman of | ||||||
16 | Community Policing & Crime Prevention Committee of the | ||||||
17 | International Association of Chief's of Police, a member and | ||||||
18 | past President of the Police Chief's Association of Will | ||||||
19 | County, the Vice-chair of the Regional Chief's Committee of the | ||||||
20 | Kendall County Chief's of Police, a member of the Tri-River | ||||||
21 | Training Advisory Board, a member of the Grundy County Local | ||||||
22 | Emergency Planning Committee, a member of the Grundy County 911 | ||||||
23 | Board, a member of the No Tolerance Task Force Board, and |

1 | President of the Grundy County Manager's Association in 2003 | ||||||
2 | and 2007; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Chief Unland has received letters of commendation | ||||||
4 | and recognition, including: from Village President Clyde Heap | ||||||
5 | for work and achievement above and beyond the call of duty; | ||||||
6 | from Village President Offerman for the apprehending of an | ||||||
7 | armed robber from the Foodliner Grocery Store; from the Federal | ||||||
8 | Bureau of Investigation for the solving of Minooka's Bank | ||||||
9 | Robbery, which led to solving five additional bank robberies; | ||||||
10 | from Village President Clyde Heap for the solving of the Kodo | ||||||
11 | Pharmacy burglary, which led to solving four additional | ||||||
12 | burglaries; from Village President Flatness for the | ||||||
13 | apprehension of an armed robber at Minooka Food Shop; from | ||||||
14 | Village President Offerman for saving the life of a child; in | ||||||
15 | addition, he received the
Officer of the year award in 1998, | ||||||
16 | and in 1994, he was recognized by department officers for his | ||||||
17 | leadership and dedication to the department; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Chief Unland graduated basic police training | ||||||
19 | through the Illinois State Police and the Police Administration | ||||||
20 | of Will County; he graduated from the Northwestern University | ||||||
21 | Traffic Institute; and he has attended numerous law enforcement | ||||||
22 | training classes, from Governor's State University, Joliet | ||||||
23 | Junior College, N.E.M.R.T., Tri-River Training, the Chicago | ||||||
24 | Crime Commission, Multi-Regional Criminal Justice Training, |

| |||||||
1 | the Illinois State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, | ||||||
2 | and the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Chief Unland is dedicated to the people of Minooka | ||||||
4 | and has shown that through his thirty years of service to the | ||||||
5 | community; therefore, be it
| ||||||
6 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
7 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
8 | congratulate Police Chief Lloyd Unland and wish him continued | ||||||
9 | success in the future; and be it further
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to Chief Unland as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
12 | esteem.
