| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dave Brown on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of his retirement as a Park District Commissioner for | ||||||
| 5 | Grandwood Park; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Dave Brown moved to Grandwood Park in 1975; on the | ||||||
| 7 | day he moved in, he went out on Grandwood Lake and helped clear | ||||||
| 8 | snow for the ice fishing contest; from that day on, he has been | ||||||
| 9 | known as the quiet force that took care of Grandwood Park; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Dave Brown was first commissioned as a Park | ||||||
| 11 | District Commissioner for Grandwood Park in 1979; he has also | ||||||
| 12 | been a member of the Grandwood Park Civic Association for many | ||||||
| 13 | years; he served as a trustee of Warren Township from September | ||||||
| 14 | of 1991 to May of 1997 and as a trustee of the Warren Waukegan | ||||||
| 15 | Fire Protection District from July of 2000 to May of 2003; in | ||||||
| 16 | total, he has given over 32 years of volunteer time to his | ||||||
| 17 | community; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, As a commissioner, Dave Brown took on many | ||||||
| 19 | projects, including the finishing steps on the Grandwood Park's | ||||||
| 20 | community center, making the center a very functional and | ||||||
| 21 | important building in the community for parties, meetings, and | ||||||
| 22 | a preschool; he spent many hours grooming the land surrounding | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | the lake, which was overgrown with weeds and debris, into | ||||||
| 2 | useable park space; he was instrumental in the acquisition of | ||||||
| 3 | gazebos for the lake's park; he also worked very hard to | ||||||
| 4 | protect the lake from erosion, cutting down trees, clearing | ||||||
| 5 | brush, and mowing grass in order to keep the lake in its | ||||||
| 6 | beautiful state; under his tenure as President, the top lot | ||||||
| 7 | park was upgraded and renamed to Adams Park; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Dave Brown enjoys spending time with family, | ||||||
| 9 | friends, and neighbors; he also has participated in the | ||||||
| 10 | Grandwood Park fish fry events as a cook and continues to | ||||||
| 11 | donate many hours to help set up for Summerfest in July; he has | ||||||
| 12 | developed a reputation as a constant presence at community | ||||||
| 13 | events; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Dave Brown's intense dedication to his community | ||||||
| 15 | and his willingness to donate his time for such worthy causes | ||||||
| 16 | make him a model for the people of the State of Illinois; | ||||||
| 17 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 19 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 20 | congratulate Dave Brown on the occasion of his retirement and | ||||||
| 21 | wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be | ||||||
| 22 | it further
