| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, Few issues confronting school district officials, |
3 |
| teachers, students, and parents are as significant as school |
4 |
| safety; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Every student and teacher has the right to attend |
6 |
| a school that is safe and secure, one that is free of fear and |
7 |
| conducive to learning; and
|
8 |
| WHEREAS, School safety awareness is essential, as well as |
9 |
| strategic planning and communication among State officials, |
10 |
| school officials, teachers, the Department of State Police, |
11 |
| local law enforcement, and communities; and
|
12 |
| WHEREAS, The State of Illinois lacks a comprehensive school |
13 |
| safety protocol that not only prepares schools to respond to a |
14 |
| crisis situation, but also instills prevention tools to impede |
15 |
| violent incidents from occurring; therefore, be it
|
16 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
17 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
18 |
| the State Board of Education undertake the development of a |
19 |
| comprehensive model protocol for school districts in this State |
20 |
| to enhance violence response and prevention; and be it further
|
