HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives wish to congratulate Fire Chief Timothy E. 
4
Sashko of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department on his retirement; 
5
and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Chief Timothy E. Sashko joined the Buffalo Grove 
7
Fire Department in 1979 as a Paid, On-Call Firefighter; in May 
8
of 1981 he attained paramedic status with the Northwest 
9
Community Hospital, and in July of 1981 he was sworn in as a 
10
full time paid Firefighter/Paramedic; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, He served in that capacity until August of 1989 
12
when he was sworn in as a Fire Lieutenant; in May of 1990 he was 
13
promoted to the rank of Fire Captain and in November of  1996 to 
14
the rank of Deputy Fire Chief; in 1999, through Southern 
15
Illinois University, Chief Sashko attained his Bachelor's 
16
Degree; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, Timothy Sashko  was sworn in as Fire Chief in May 
18
of 2002; throughout his career he received many certificates 
19
and many letters of praise; he received a commendation from the 
20
Village of Buffalo Grove in July, 1986, when he was placed in 
21
the position of Acting Lieutenant and was first responder at a 
22
structure fire at the Windbrooke Apartment complex, where he

performed his job perfectly; and

 
2
    WHEREAS, Chief Sashko is a member of the Metropolitan Fire 
3
Chiefs Association, the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association, the 
4
Lake County Fire Chiefs Association, the International Fire 
5
Chiefs Association, and MABAS Division 4; he is a liaison to 
6
the Northwest Central Dispatch Center System and their Budget 
7
Committee; and

 
8
    WHEREAS, Chief Sashko has received two major accolades, the 
9
Buffalo Grove High Schools' Distinguished Alumni Award in 2002, 
10
and Fire Chief of the Year in 2006 from the Illinois Fire 
11
Chiefs Association; therefore, be it

 
12
    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
13
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
14
congratulate Fire Chief Timothy E. Sashko of the Buffalo Grove 
15
Fire Department on his retirement; and be it further

 
16
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
17
presented to Timothy E. Sashko as a symbol of our respect and 
18
esteem.
