HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives are pleased to congratulate Michael Falese on 
4
the occasion of his retirement as Fire Chief of the Elgin Fire 
5
Department on August 31, 2007; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, Prior to his career with the Elgin Fire 
7
Department, Michael Falese worked for the West Dundee Fire 
8
Department; he began his career with the Elgin Fire Department 
9
on December 12, 1983; he rose steadily through the ranks, being 
10
promoted to Lieutenant in August 1990; he was promoted to 
11
Captain in February 1995, then to Deputy Chief in April 2000; 
12
he was promoted to Fire Chief on November 24, 2003, where he 
13
remained until his retirement on August 31, 2007; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, Michael Falese was instrumental in starting the 
15
Elgin Fire Department's "Right To Know" program in 1984; and he 
16
has been actively involved in diversity recruitment for the 
17
Elgin Fire Department and with the construction of the 
18
department's Fire Stations 7 and 8; and

 
19
    WHEREAS, Michael Falese received his master's degree in 
20
Public Administration from Northern Illinois University in 
21
2001; and

    WHEREAS, Michael Falese was the recipient of the 
2
Firefighter/Paramedic of the Year Award in 1986; and he was the 
3
recipient of Department Unit Citations in 1996 and 2000 for his 
4
work; and

 
5
    WHEREAS, Michael Falese has also been an active participant 
6
in his community; he has been the president of the Elgin 
7
Classic Little League for several years; and he is a board 
8
member with the Elgin City Employees Credit Union; and
 
9
    WHEREAS, Michael Falese's dedication to his profession and 
10
his willingness to serve his community make him a model for the 
11
people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

 
12
    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
13
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
14
congratulate Chief Michael Falese on his retirement and wish 
15
him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it 
16
further

 
17
    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
18
presented to Chief Michael Falese as a symbol of our esteem and 
19
respect.
