| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Shawnee Muskie | ||||||
| 4 | Hunters on the occasion of receiving a 2007 Outstanding | ||||||
| 5 | Volunteer of the Year Award from the Illinois Department of | ||||||
| 6 | Natural Resources; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The Illinois Department of Natural Resources | ||||||
| 8 | Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Awards are presented each | ||||||
| 9 | year to individuals and organizations for exceptional | ||||||
| 10 | volunteer service to the department and the people of the State | ||||||
| 11 | of Illinois; the recipients of these awards exhibit great | ||||||
| 12 | dedication to IDNR and to the people of Illinois, whether it be | ||||||
| 13 | devoting time to help IDNR staff manage public land, provide | ||||||
| 14 | visitor services, or perform educational outreach; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, The Shawnee Muskie Hunters are the Kinkaid Lake | ||||||
| 16 | chapter of Muskies, Inc.; the club has approximately 75 muskie | ||||||
| 17 | fishing enthusiasts; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Throughout the last 10 years, the Shawnee Muskie | ||||||
| 19 | Hunters have helped the Illinois Muskie Alliance purchase a | ||||||
| 20 | youth fishing educational trailer for IDNR; they have donated | ||||||
| 21 | funds to repair nets and purchase trap nets, as well as a | ||||||
| 22 | digital camera, fish feeders, PIT tags and readers, and a new | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | E-TEC outboard motor for an IDNR fisheries biologist; the group | ||||||
| 2 | sponsors a kids fishing program and annual lake clean up every | ||||||
| 3 | year, in which tons of garbage are removed from Kinkaid Lake; | ||||||
| 4 | the group's members are currently looking into purchasing | ||||||
| 5 | hybrid muskies for Eagle Lake in the Peabody River King State | ||||||
| 6 | Fish and Wildlife Area near New Athens in St. Clair County, a | ||||||
| 7 | new muskie lake for Illinois that was recently approved by IDNR | ||||||
| 8 | for a hybrid stocking program; the club will help support this | ||||||
| 9 | effort and will help monitor its success with the support of | ||||||
| 10 | IDNR; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, The Shawnee Muskie Hunters' dedication to the | ||||||
| 12 | environment and willingness to serve their community make them | ||||||
| 13 | particularly deserving of this award; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 15 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 16 | congratulate the Shawnee Muskie Hunters for receiving the 2007 | ||||||
| 17 | Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award and wish the members | ||||||
| 18 | continued success and happiness in the future; and be it | ||||||
| 19 | further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 21 | presented to a representative of the Shawnee Muskie Hunters as | ||||||
| 22 | a symbol of our esteem and respect.
