2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Chief Robert | ||||||
4 | Tinucci on the occasion of his retirement from the | ||||||
5 | Darien-Woodridge Fire District after 33 years of service; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Chief Robert Tinucci began his career as a | ||||||
7 | firefighter with the former Downers Grove Estate Fire | ||||||
8 | Protection District in 1974, when he signed on as a | ||||||
9 | part-time/POC firefighter; he became a Lieutenant in 1976, then | ||||||
10 | served as a captain/shift commander from 1978 to 1989; he | ||||||
11 | served as assistant chief from 1989 until 1991, when he was | ||||||
12 | promoted to fire chief/administrator; he has also held the | ||||||
13 | positions of training officer, shift commander, fire | ||||||
14 | inspector, health and safety officer, fire investigator, | ||||||
15 | public information officer, and purchasing coordinator; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Chief Robert Tinucci has been instrumental in many | ||||||
17 | vital changes in the Darien-Woodridge Fire District over the | ||||||
18 | last 33 years, including the initiation and development of | ||||||
19 | various formal and informal training programs, staffing | ||||||
20 | coordination and transformation, and district consolidation; | ||||||
21 | he was directly responsible for the development of "Automatic | ||||||
22 | Aid" among several neighboring fire departments and the | ||||||
23 | development of formal mutual aid through the former Cook-DuPage |

1 | Mutual Aid Association and the present MABAS System; he was | ||||||
2 | instrumental in advancing the district's ISO Public Grading | ||||||
3 | from a combination Class 5/9, to a Class 3 Public Grading | ||||||
4 | district wide; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Chief Robert Tinucci has provided consultation to | ||||||
6 | the initial and current Board of Fire Commissioners; he | ||||||
7 | developed administrative methods and procedures for all | ||||||
8 | aspects of the fire district's administration, which have | ||||||
9 | increased the efficiency of operations with a limited staff; he | ||||||
10 | also coordinated the consolidation of the fire district's 911 | ||||||
11 | Communications Center with the Pleasantview Fire Protection | ||||||
12 | District; and | ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Chief Robert Tinucci served as Pension Board | ||||||
14 | President from 1978 to 1991 and has been a member of the Board | ||||||
15 | since 1978; he was directly responsible for the district's | ||||||
16 | facility planning involving their space-needs analysis, ADA | ||||||
17 | compliance, and other future needs, culminating with the design | ||||||
18 | and construction of their new headquarters facility; he served | ||||||
19 | as the primary representative for the design, procurement, | ||||||
20 | budgeting, and construction of the district's facility; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Chief Robert Tinucci has also been very active in | ||||||
22 | other civic organizations; he is an active member of the | ||||||
23 | International Fire Chiefs Association, the Illinois Fire |

1 | Chiefs Association, and the DuPage County Fire Chiefs | ||||||
2 | Association; he has served as fire service liaison for the 100 | ||||||
3 | Club of DuPage County for 3 years; he is also an active member | ||||||
4 | of the Northern Illinois Alliance of Fire Protection Districts | ||||||
5 | and has served as Vice President, President, and Training | ||||||
6 | Committee Chair of MABAS Division 10; he was instrumental in | ||||||
7 | the formation of the Darien Area Public Administrators (DAPA) | ||||||
8 | in 1991 and has served as the coordinator of DAPA since its | ||||||
9 | inception; he has served in various roles in the Southwest | ||||||
10 | United Fire Districts and is an active member of the Woodridge | ||||||
11 | Public Administrators and an alumni board member with the | ||||||
12 | Hinsdale South High School Foundation; and | ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, In his 33 year career, Chief Robert Tinucci led | ||||||
14 | his fire district without anyone under his command suffering | ||||||
15 | serious injury or line of duty death, a record of great | ||||||
16 | distinction; and | ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Chief Robert Tinucci's dedication to his | ||||||
18 | profession and his willingness to serve his community make him | ||||||
19 | a great model for the people of the State of Illinois; | ||||||
20 | therefore, be it

21 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
22 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
23 | congratulate Chief Robert Tinucci on his retirement, thank him |

2 | and happiness in the future; and be it further

3 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
