| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 |
| Representatives are pleased to congratulate the citizens of the |
4 |
| City of Kinmundy as they celebrate the sesquicentennial |
5 |
| anniversary of the community; and
|
6 |
| WHEREAS, Settlers came to the area now known as Kinmundy |
7 |
| around the year 1820; they settled there because of the timber |
8 |
| and prairie soil; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Kinmundy was named by a London representative of |
10 |
| the Illinois Central Railroad after his hometown in Scotland; |
11 |
| and |
12 |
| WHEREAS, In 1856 the Illinois Central Railroad was |
13 |
| completed in the area, making it possible get crops to the |
14 |
| market; land for the City was purchased from the railroad |
15 |
| company in 1857, and in 1867 the City of Kinmundy was |
16 |
| incorporated; and
|
17 |
| WHEREAS, Kinmundy is home to Ingram's Log Cabin Village, |
18 |
| with authentic log cabins dating as far back as 1818; there is |
19 |
| also nearby Forbes State Park, a 2,500 acre conservation park; |

| and
|

| WHEREAS, Kinmundy is proud that its public library, |
2 |
| ballpark association, fire association district, and emergency |
3 |
| management service that are staffed with well-qualified |
4 |
| volunteers; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, The Kinmundy Sesquicentennial is being held on |
6 |
| September 1-3, 2007 with a fish fry, dance, the crowning of a |
7 |
| queen, lunch social, community church service, gospel sing, |
8 |
| quilt show, chicken dinner, games, rides, and more; therefore, |
9 |
| be it
|

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
11 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
12 |
| congratulate the people of Kinmundy as they celebrate this |
13 |
| milestone anniversary; and be it further
|
14 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
15 |
| presented to a representative of the City of Kinmundy as a |
16 |
| symbol of our respect and admiration.
