HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, James Clancy and Ann Dower were married on 
3
September 14, 1957 at St Patrick's Church in Springfield; and

 
4
    WHEREAS, Ann Dower was raised in Springfield, where she 
5
attended Ursuline Academy; she was employed by Illinois Circuit 
6
Breaker; and she has been a loving mother of 5 children; and

 
7
    WHEREAS, James Clancy was born in Taylorville and raised in 
8
Springfield; he was employed for the Illinois Secretary of 
9
State for 32 years, working in the Data Processing department; 
10
and he has been a loving father of 5 children; and

 
11
    WHEREAS, The newly married Mr. and Mrs. Clancy settled on 
12
Springfield's south side, where they have been involved in 
13
church and family values their entire married lives; and

 
14
    WHEREAS, Ann Clancy became a homemaker and raised their 
15
five children, Shannon (Larry) Johnson, Colleen (William) 
16
Aeppli, Kathleen (Donald) Moles, Maureen, and James; and

 
17
    WHEREAS, James and Ann Clancy are the proud grandparents of 
18
9 grandchildren, Sarah, Kimberly, Sean, Ryan, Robyn, Eric, 
19
Crystal, Dustin, and Autumn; and

    WHEREAS, James and Ann Clancy have always lived life to the 
2
fullest; they enjoy big band music and ballroom dancing; they 
3
love to travel, create beautiful landscaping around their home, 
4
tour garage sales, and share their family genealogy of Ireland; 
5
and
 
6
    WHEREAS, James and Ann Clancy are extremely proud of their 
7
Irish heritage, having traced their roots back to the 1300's, 
8
and have been involved in political activities for many years; 
9
and

 
10
    WHEREAS, James and Ann Clancy are now retired; James still 
11
enjoys being a doorman for the Illinois House of 
12
Representatives, and retains his position as the 
13
Secretary/Treasurer for the State Retirement System; Ann 
14
remains active with landscaping, poetry, finding great items 
15
hidden in family summer sales, and planning social events; 
16
above all, they enjoy their family and spending time together, 
17
as recently shown on a family trip in June 2007 to Walt Disney 
18
World for their children, spouses, and grandchildren; 
19
therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE  HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
21
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
22
congratulate James and Ann Clancy on the celebration of their 
23
golden anniversary; that we commend them for achieving a long

and happy marriage, blessed with children, grandchildren and 
2
rich in friendships; and that we wish them happiness and good 
3
health in the future; and be it further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
5
presented to James and Ann Clancy as a symbol of our esteem and 
6
respect.
