2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate the owners and | ||||||
4 | staff of the Siemer Milling Company on the company's 125th | ||||||
5 | anniversary of service; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Siemer Milling Company is a family and | ||||||
7 | employee-owned company that specializes in the milling of wheat | ||||||
8 | flour to different specifications for the making of such foods | ||||||
9 | as cookies, crackers, cakes, pretzels, batters and breadings, | ||||||
10 | breads, and biscuits; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, The Siemer Milling Company began in Teutopolis on | ||||||
12 | November 6, 1882 when the company opened for business as "Hope | ||||||
13 | Mills, Uptmor & Siemer Proprietors"; in 1906, Joseph Siemer and | ||||||
14 | his son Clemens J. Siemer bought out the Uptmor interests and | ||||||
15 | changed the name to Siemer Milling Company; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Under the leadership of Quintin A. Siemer, son of | ||||||
17 | Clemens J. Siemer, the company became recommitted to flour | ||||||
18 | milling in the late 1950's as new opportunities presented | ||||||
19 | themselves; by 1979, demand justified the opening of a larger | ||||||
20 | mill in Teutopolis, a mill that has almost doubled in capacity | ||||||
21 | since its creation; and

1 | WHEREAS, Richard C. Siemer, son of Quintin A. Siemer, | ||||||
2 | became the fourth generation of Siemers to lead the company in | ||||||
3 | 1986; their Illinois operations currently employ 65 people, | ||||||
4 | process 6.3 million bushels of wheat annually with a current | ||||||
5 | market value of about 35 million dollars, and produce 185,000 | ||||||
6 | tons of processed wheat products annually; the company also | ||||||
7 | operates flour mills in Hopkinsville, Kentucky; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, In 2000, the Siemer Milling Company established an | ||||||
9 | Employee Stock Ownership Plan, which placed a significant | ||||||
10 | percentage of company stock in a trust with all eligible | ||||||
11 | employees as beneficiaries, so that the company's success will | ||||||
12 | be translated into greater financial security for its | ||||||
13 | participants; and | ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, The Siemer Milling Company's commitment to | ||||||
15 | creating quality products and its sincere desire for customer | ||||||
16 | and employee satisfaction makes the company a wonderful asset | ||||||
17 | to the citizens of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
19 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
20 | congratulate the owners and staff of the Siemer Milling Company | ||||||
21 | on the company's 125th anniversary of service and wish them | ||||||
22 | continued success in their future endeavors; and be it further
