HOUSE RESOLUTION

    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3
Representatives  are pleased to congratulate the men and women 
4
of the Muntu Dance Theatre as they prepare to celebrate a 
5
special anniversary; and

 
6
    WHEREAS, On Saturday, July 14, 2007, the Muntu Dance 
7
Theatre of Chicago will be celebrating its 35th Anniversary; 
8
the gala celebration will take place at the Harris Theater for 
9
Music and Dance in Millennium Park in Chicago; and

 
10
    WHEREAS, The program will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will 
11
include a performance by Muntu, followed by a catered VIP Gala 
12
Reception; Muntu will present the world premiere of a major new 
13
work entitled "Guide" by guest choreographer Rosangela 
14
Silvestre; and

 
15
    WHEREAS, Muntu touches more than 90,000 people a year 
16
through performances, educational outreach, and classes; the 
17
majority of the individuals who participate in Muntu's 
18
after-school programs are at-risk students; and

    WHEREAS, The Muntu Dance Theatre's  programs have opened a 
20
whole new world in the arts for thousands of youth throughout 
21
the Chicago area; therefore, be it

    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2
NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3
congratulate the men and women of the Muntu Dance Theatre and 
4
wish them the best as they continue to provide spirited 
5
entertainment and education to the people of Chicago; and be it 
6
further

    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8
presented to the men and women of the Muntu Dance Theatre as a 
9
symbol of our respect.
