| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Richard S. Eilert is a native son | ||||||
3 | of Illinois and a life long resident of Lake Zurich; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Eilert followed his grandfather | ||||||
5 | and father into the service of his country by enlisting in the | ||||||
6 | United States Marine Corps and serving with the storied 1st | ||||||
7 | Marine Division, 1st Marines; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Upon completion of training in 2005, Lance | ||||||
9 | Corporal Eilert was deployed on the USS Bonhomme Richard, the | ||||||
10 | flagship of Expeditionary Strike Group 5, a combined armada | ||||||
11 | comprised of Navy ships and a submarine, the 15th Marine | ||||||
12 | Expeditionary Unit, and a U.S. Coast Guard cutter; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, While serving with the 15th Marine Expeditionary | ||||||
14 | Unit, Lance Corporal Eilert participated in "Operation Unified | ||||||
15 | Assurance" which brought immediate aide to Sumatra after the | ||||||
16 | December 26, 2005 tsunami had devastated the island nation; the | ||||||
17 | Task Force brought food, water, medical supplies, and doctors | ||||||
18 | within days of the disaster; and | ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, In March 2006, Lance Corporal Eilert was deployed | ||||||
20 | to Iraq, Babil Province, south of Baghdad, where he | ||||||
21 | participated in "Operation Iraqi Freedom"; and |

1 | WHEREAS, During this time he and his mates were called upon | ||||||
2 | to perform combat patrols and sweeps for weapons caches and | ||||||
3 | fight the insurgency; in 2006, Lance Corporal Eilert and his | ||||||
4 | fellow Marines returned again to Iraq to fight in the Al Anbar | ||||||
5 | province, distinguishing themselves during combat operations | ||||||
6 | near Fallujah and Karmah; during this time The Leathernecks of | ||||||
7 | the 1st Battalion, 1st Marines upheld the great fighting | ||||||
8 | traditions of the Marines; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Eilert has served with distinction | ||||||
10 | while serving in the Marine Corps, earning the Combat Action | ||||||
11 | Ribbon, Global War On Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War | ||||||
12 | on Terrorism Service Medal, Navy Meritorious Unit | ||||||
13 | Commendation, Humanitarian Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, | ||||||
14 | Sea Service
Deployment with star, and the National Defense | ||||||
15 | Service Medal; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Eilert is preparing to deploy a | ||||||
17 | third time to Iraq, Anbar Province, to uphold the finest | ||||||
18 | traditions of the United States Marine Corps; by his service he | ||||||
19 | has brought
honor to this nation, the State of Illinois, and to | ||||||
20 | the community of Lake Zurich; therefore, be it
| ||||||
21 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
22 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |

1 | thank Lance Corporal Eilert for his willingness to serve his | ||||||
2 | country, and wish him continued success as he deploys to Iraq; | ||||||
3 | and be it further

4 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
5 | presented to Lance Corporal Richard S. Eilert as a symbol of | ||||||
6 | our respect and admiration.
