| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|

| WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives are |
3 |
| deeply saddened by the passing of Ruby Pearl White; and
|
4 |
| WHEREAS, Ruby Pearl White was born to the union of the late |
5 |
| Leo and Delilah Grays on August 27, 1917 in New Kensington, |
6 |
| Pennsylvania; she was one of three children born to that union, |
7 |
| along with her sister Mamie and her brother Freddie, all of |
8 |
| whom preceded her in death; and
|
9 |
| WHEREAS, Ruby Pearl White gave her life to the Lord at an |
10 |
| early age at the 1st Church of God in New Kensington, |
11 |
| Pennsylvania; she later became a member of Crossroads Vineyard |
12 |
| Christian Fellowship in Plum Borough where she served the Lord, |
13 |
| her church, and her community all the days of her life; and
|
14 |
| WHEREAS, Ruby Pearl White met and married Charles O'Neal; |
15 |
| one child was born to this union, Frances O'Neal Williams |
16 |
| Lewis; she later married Fred White; five children were born to |
17 |
| this union, in which one, Frederick White, preceded her in |
18 |
| death; and
|
19 |
| WHEREAS, Ruby Pearl White graduated from New Kensington |
20 |
| High School in 1935; she attended the University of Pittsburgh |
21 |
| and served as a student advisor at Pennsylvania State |

| University's New Kensington campus; and
|
2 |
| WHEREAS, Ruby Pearl White loved her family, her extended |
3 |
| family, and the greater community, encouraging everyone to be |
4 |
| the absolute best that they could be; and
|
5 |
| WHEREAS, Ruby Pearl White committed her life and her work |
6 |
| to fight for social and economic justice, organizing and |
7 |
| standing up against all injustices as an active member of the |
8 |
| NAACP and as a founding member of the first official Alle-Kiski |
9 |
| Valley Martin Luther King Memorial Program at the First Church |
10 |
| of God; and |
11 |
| WHEREAS, Ruby Pearl White will be sorely missed by all who |
12 |
| knew and loved her, especially her daughters, Frances (Rev. |
13 |
| Robert) Lewis, Rebecca, and Penelope; her sons, Peter (Regina) |
14 |
| White and Paul White; her adopted daughters, Betty Moore and |
15 |
| Grace Ives; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and |
16 |
| many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
|
17 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |
18 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
19 |
| join with the family of Ruby Pearl White in the celebration of |
20 |
| her life; and be it further
