2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Special Agent in | ||||||
4 | Charge of the Springfield Division of the Federal Bureau of | ||||||
5 | Investigation Weysan Dun on his appointment as Special Agent in | ||||||
6 | Charge of the Newark, New Jersey Division; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Mr. Dun began his career as an FBI Special Agent | ||||||
8 | in 1982; he served in the San Francisco, Omaha, and Chicago | ||||||
9 | Divisions, where he specialized in national security matters, | ||||||
10 | high technology theft investigations, violent crimes, | ||||||
11 | terrorism, and extremist matters; while in Omaha, Mr. Dun | ||||||
12 | directed and conducted a domestic terrorism investigation that | ||||||
13 | resulted in the dismantling of an extremist organization in | ||||||
14 | southeastern Nebraska in 1985; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, In 1988, Mr. Dun was promoted to Supervisory | ||||||
16 | Special Agent of the National Security Division at FBI | ||||||
17 | Headquarters in Washington, D.C; he also served as an Assistant | ||||||
18 | Inspector in the Inspection Division; in 1991, Mr. Dun became a | ||||||
19 | Supervisory Senior Resident Agent in the Hartford, Connecticut | ||||||
20 | Resident Agency, where he directed several Violent Crimes Gang | ||||||
21 | Task Forces that helped dismantle a number of violent street | ||||||
22 | gangs in Connecticut; he also led numerous Organized Crime Drug | ||||||
23 | Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) investigations targeting major |

| |||||||
1 | drug trafficking groups in New England; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Mr. Dun returned to FBI Headquarters in 1997, | ||||||
3 | where he directed the creation of the Program Management and | ||||||
4 | Coordination Unit in the Organized Crime/Drug Investigations | ||||||
5 | Branch of the Criminal Investigative Division; Mr. Dun served | ||||||
6 | as chief of this unit until he was designated Assistant Special | ||||||
7 | Agent in Charge of the Omaha Division in July 1998; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, In Omaha, Mr. Dun directed a number of significant | ||||||
9 | drug, violent crime, domestic terrorism, and cyber crime | ||||||
10 | investigations, and the implementation of the Nebraska/Iowa | ||||||
11 | Joint Terrorism Task Force; in July 2002, he was promoted to | ||||||
12 | Inspector in the Inspection Division at FBI Headquarters, where | ||||||
13 | he served until July 2003, when he was designated Special Agent | ||||||
14 | in Charge of the Springfield Division
; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Mr. Dun is a native of Kirksville, Missouri; he | ||||||
16 | earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Cornell University in | ||||||
17 | Ithaca, New York; he served in the United States Army, Military | ||||||
18 | Intelligence Branch, where he attained the rank of Captain and | ||||||
19 | was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal; therefore, be it
| ||||||
20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
21 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
22 | congratulate Special Agent in Charge Weysan Dun on his |

2 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
