| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |

| Representatives are pleased to congratulate D.J. Douglas of |
4 |
| Stonefort for winning first place in the red wine category in |
5 |
| the Amateur Winemakers of Central Illinois' third annual |
6 |
| competition; and
|
7 |
| WHEREAS, The Amateur Winemakers of Central Illinois |
8 |
| competition featured more than 100 wines produced by amateur |
9 |
| winemakers at Alto Vineyards in Champaign; wines were entered |
10 |
| by people around the United States, including Texas, Missouri, |
11 |
| Illinois, Indiana, and Kentucky; competitors shipped their |
12 |
| wines to the competition and were judged anonymously; there |
13 |
| were eight judges, made up of amateur and professional |
14 |
| winemakers, wine buyers, and an enology specialist; wines were |
15 |
| judged on clarity, color, aroma and bouquet, taste, aftertaste, |
16 |
| and overall presentation; winners were selected in red, white, |
17 |
| fruit, and mead categories, and one of the four were named Best |
18 |
| of Show; and

| WHEREAS, D.J. Douglas' first place wine, "D.J.'s Cuvee", is |
20 |
| made from 56 percent Chambourcin grapes and 44 percent Norton |
21 |
| grapes; he purchased the grapes locally, with the Chambourcin |
22 |
| grapes coming from Anders Hedman in Alto Pass and the Norton |
23 |
| grapes coming from Matt Rendleman of Makanda; this was D.J. |
