| HOUSE RESOLUTION
|
| 2 |
| WHEREAS, The institution of marriage is one of the
|
| 3 |
| cornerstones upon which our society is built, and a marriage
|
| 4 |
| that has achieved a notable longevity is truly a model for the
|
| 5 |
| people of the State of Illinois; and |
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
|
| 7 |
| Representatives are pleased to honor Tom Miller and Lois Miller
|
| 8 |
| on the celebration of their 50-year wedding anniversary; Tom |
| 9 |
| and Lois met in McCool, Mississippi as teenagers and were |
| 10 |
| married in Chicago on January 14, 1957, by the late Reverend |
| 11 |
| David A. Williams; they will celebrate their anniversary on |
| 12 |
| June 24, 2007; and
|
| 13 |
| WHEREAS, Tom pursued a career at Ceco Steel and later |
| 14 |
| retired from RC Cola
in 1998; Lois pursued a career in |
| 15 |
| cosmetology
and subsequently opened her own
business of 47 |
| 16 |
| years, L & L Beauty Salon; and
|
| 17 |
| WHEREAS, The Millers have been pillars in their community, |
| 18 |
| Tom as a Deacon for over 40 years, and Lois as a Mother with the |
| 19 |
| Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church; they were founding |
| 20 |
| members and helped organize their community block club; the |
| 21 |
| past 10 years they have resided in Westchester and continue to |
| 22 |
| be actively involved in their community; and
|

| WHEREAS, Born to their union were their daughters, Sherby, |
| 2 |
| Linda, Tammy, and Sheree; they have four grandchildren, |
| 3 |
| Jacqueline, Jermie, Bianca, and DiJona; and they have two |
| 4 |
| great-grandchildren, Destiny & Jeremiah;
their home is a place |
| 5 |
| filled with Christian love, as can be attested by the numerous |
| 6 |
| Godchildren and the adults that have adopted them as their |
| 7 |
| parents; they always have enough love to go around; and
|
| 8 |
| WHEREAS, The respect for marriage reaches one of its
|
| 9 |
| highest plateaus when a couple such as Tom and Lois celebrate
|
| 10 |
| their golden wedding anniversary; Tom and Lois stand as |
| 11 |
| examples of the best of
our society, and their love and |
| 12 |
| devotion to each other and to
their family and friends serve as |
| 13 |
| a reminder to all that hard
work, dedication, and love can make |
| 14 |
| a difference in today's
world; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE |

| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |
| 17 |
| congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Tom Miller on the occasion of
their |
| 18 |
| fiftieth wedding anniversary; that we commend them for
|
| 19 |
| achieving a long and happy marriage, blessed with children,
|
| 20 |
| grandchildren, great grandchildren and rich in friendships; |
| 21 |
| and that we wish them
happiness and good health in the future; |
