2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Frank M. Burzynski | ||||||
4 | on his retirement from the West Chicago Community High School | ||||||
5 | District; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Frank M. Burzynski was born in 1948 in Stanley, | ||||||
7 | Wisconsin; he graduated from Stanley-Boyd High School in 1966; | ||||||
8 | and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Frank M. Burzynski married his high school | ||||||
10 | sweetheart, Mary Ann Supple, 39 years ago in June of 1968 and | ||||||
11 | they have raised three children, Jason, Tasha, and Tracy; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Frank M. Burzynski graduated Magna Cum Laude with | ||||||
13 | a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Wisconsin | ||||||
14 | State University-Eau Claire in 1970; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Frank M. Burzynski was hired by West Chicago | ||||||
16 | Community High School District 94 in the fall of 1970 and | ||||||
17 | completed 37 years of successful teaching, beginning almost | ||||||
18 | every day more than an hour early and finishing more than an | ||||||
19 | hour late to provide his students with the extra help that only | ||||||
20 | a dedicated teacher can provide; and

1 | WHEREAS, Frank M. Burzynski received a National Science | ||||||
2 | Foundation grant to attend Notre Dame University and from there | ||||||
3 | received a Master of Sciences Degree in Mathematics in 1974; | ||||||
4 | and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Frank M. Burzynski participated in one of the very | ||||||
6 | first federally funded high school computer courses in 1975, | ||||||
7 | using the Hewlett Packard HP981OA; and | ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Frank M. Burzynski was an integral part of the | ||||||
9 | small cadre of math teachers that kept West Chicago Community | ||||||
10 | High School at the leading edge of computer education, from the | ||||||
11 | first IBM 1132 mainframe in 1967 to the full integration of | ||||||
12 | micro computers into the math curriculum in the early 1980s; | ||||||
13 | and | ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Frank M. Burzynski was selected to work at the | ||||||
15 | Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory for three successive | ||||||
16 | decades in a program that matched working math teachers with | ||||||
17 | computer jobs in a facility at the leading edge of physics | ||||||
18 | research; and | ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Frank M. Burzynski gave talks at mathematics | ||||||
20 | conventions about computers, including a talk at the 1979 | ||||||
21 | National Council of Teachers of Mathematics national | ||||||
22 | convention; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Frank M. Burzynski was a member of the choir at | ||||||
2 | St. Patrick's Catholic Church in St. Charles for 24 years; | ||||||
3 | therefore, be it

4 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
5 | NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
6 | congratulate Frank M. Burzynski on his retirement and wish him | ||||||
7 | continued success and happiness in the future; and be it | ||||||
8 | further

9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
10 | presented to Frank M. Burzynski as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
11 | respect.
